if i were in your situation i'll return that ocz. nobody deserves a product that suppose to make life easier but ends up making things worst. replace it with a m4 or other brands not using the sandforce controller. end your misery.
I updated firmware by connecting it to my bro's pc and using the bootable linux ocz tools.
After that I connected it to my motherboard, along with my 640gb storage hdd, and a sata optical drive. All on the intel controller. Bios recognized them all and I installed OS.
Following this I updated to the latest drivers.
Issues are as follows:
Boot time gets stuck at windows logo for long periods of time (up to 5 min. sometimes as an example) and sometimes just freezes and requires reboot. RARELY it works properly and is quick.
Sometimes after booting the HDD appears to be gone. Doesn't show and is inaccessible. Also it never, from what I have seen, appears in Bios anymore. It also is getting "Ultra DMA CRC Error Count"s according to HDtune. Current number of these is 81 and a new one is added every time the system fails to boot. It notifies me with a warning and says it is an interface communication error. Also says could be caused by bad/damaged cables. The cables I am using are the ones that came with the ASRock Mobo. They appeared to be decent quality. /shrug
Steps taken to ATTEMPT a fix:
Double checked on latest drivers.
Turned off ALPM (aggressive link power management)
Turned on eSata mode. (hot plugging is what I was suggested to turn on and I believe this is what it referred to.)
I also made sure I used AHCI before installing windows.
Also changed power mode to high performance & disabled the 'turn harddrive off after X minutes'
Next steps are to change cables and see if it has an effect. After that, I don't know if I should RMA board for damaged sata ports/controller or something of the like, or RMA the drives lol. Seems strange to have an issue with both.
Please let me know what you think and any suggestions!!!
