Thread Starter
I tried with different discs, it just doesn't read them.

I installed the latest firmware, still doesn't work.

The dvd drive is GH22NS50

Try a different sata cable.

Normally fix's the problem for me

I would try blowing it out with some compressed air. Sometimes some dust covers the lens in side. Open the try and blow gently with some compressed air.

how old is the drive?

if bios and windows see the dive, its not the cables

if its dust on the lens, they are fairly easy to clean
remove the drive, pull off the cover and use rubbing alcahol and a q-tip to clean the lens

or worst case, spend $20 on a new dvd drive, or $60-80 for a bd drive
