I'm looking at building a PC for a friends son around the £300 mark, this is what I have so far:

Samsung SH-D163C/BEBE SATA 16x £ 11.79
Gigabyte GA-M68MT-S2P Micro-ATX Motherboard £ 29.99
AMD Athlon II X3 Tri Core 450 3.20GHz £ 44.99
1TB Samsung F3 SATA-II 3.5 £39.99
4GB Corsair Vengeance Black LP (DDR3 1600) £ 21.78
430W Corsair Builder Series 430CX PSU £ 28.99
Xigmatek Asgard Black Edition £ 22.99
TOT £252.62

I have a 5750 knocking around and would lob it in for £30/40 cause I can't be bothered to sell it or anything!

Can anyone advise what a Llano would sacrafice on the system above and if there is any additional or non compatible parts here. Thankyou peeps

llano would need a different mobo, FM1

but with a 5750 discrete graphic card, you wouldn't need a llano.

Llano is more suited to HTPC's and small factor builds

The Llano would require a different motherboard but it would be a BIG step up.

Could you elaborate on it being a big step up? I still have to stay around £300 and AMD Llano A4-3300 2.50GHz (Socket FM1) Processor @ £47.99 would probably have to be the replacement for the tri core. The 5750 is the 1gb HD gddr5 xfx XXX edition.

Llano is overpriced for now. You can get a better system for cheaper or about the same price with an athlon and a GPU

The athlon ii x3 with 5750 is a much more powerful build.

The A4 is the weakest Llano chip with only a dual core processor, 160 stream processors at a 600mhz clock with the ddr3 memory clock (1600 with your selected ram).

The Athlon II x3 has three cores as opposed to 2, and the 5750 has 720 stream processors at 700mhz with gddr5 memory.

The fact that you have the 5750 you want to get rid of makes this a no brainer. If anything see if you can find an athlon ii x4 or a phenom ii x3/x4 for a similar price, dunno what retailers supply oem over there.

get the top end llano and you will game good enough.

if you hybrid crossfire it with a 6670 you will game like kings.

it only comes to what, 100 for cpu 100 for mobo, and 100 for the discrete 6670 ? total 300.

good deal.

Thanks for this. I can do the whole setup for £320 ish it's a christmas present for his son, I recon it has a decent enough upgrade path too with the Phenom X6, AM3+ and more memory. Shame there is no Xfire.

It's for minecraft I believe and WOW if possible.

That would be £300 with no case, HDD, mem, optical or PSU then!!

Definitely the discrete build.

Llano has a lot of fan boys and it is good at what it does, but its too, much/too little for most, and crossfire defeats purpose.
