Problem 1) The idiot who had the laptop before me clearly didn't know how to take the laptop apart and broke some of the latches on the top left of the laptop (the cover over the hinges of the G53, it's just for looks, and only a few tabs are broken, so it still holds well)

Problem 2) I've got the "power button" problem. It won't turn on. I've figured out two solutions that work.

*Unplug the battery and the charger and hold down the power button for 30 sec.

or

*Permanently unplug the track pad connector.

I've gone with solution number 2 as it's a gaming laptop, so I'd rarely use the track pad anyway.

The specs are sweet and it stays ice cold. I'd love to throw in an SSD soon.

10GB of RAM? 3 sticks? You'd be better off with dual channel.

Wow. All I got out of this thread is that having no morals will pay off. The only comforting thing is that the laptop wasn't perfectly functional.

Well, I'm sure large companies like UPS and Newegg have insurance for losses such as these. Technically the insurance company is paying for it..

But honestly if they made a mistake, you benefit.

It's how I scored a free coffeemaker from Mr. Coffee a year ago!

In my opinion this situation equals stealing, and stealing is wrong.

Not trying to be a deal breaker here, but you should tell Newegg the truth and maybe they'll let you have it for free.
