Another what should I do thread :[

Well to start, here's a little background about my situation: I built this system around the middle of this year, a little after BC2 went on sale on steam(if anyone remembers that ) and I fell in love with the game, but my C2D just couldn't cut it anymore. Before this I've never actually built a computer before so after a lot of research into parts and assembly, I decided to go for a SB rig + a GTX 460. I was pretty satisfied with the single 460 with the games I played on my pc at the time(Alice, Batman AA, The Witcher, some mmos), and was pretty adamant on just adding another 460 for BF3.

Recently I've been having second thoughts about getting another 460 because of a few reasons:
- Due to school, the next few weeks are going to be real busy for me, so I held off on pre ordering BF3, therefore not needing a graphics upgrade right now.
- Micro stuttering. I've actually never experienced this before but anything that will degrade my visual experience in gaming is a big minus for me. One of the top reasons I switched to PC gaming from consoles is how games look SO much better on PC.
- With the holiday seasons approaching, maybe there could be discounts for some higher end cards and I could go with a single card solution
- With the 600 series just over the horizon, I've been thinking about waiting for their release in hopes that I could grab a 570/580 card for cheap.

So I'm really undecided now if I want to add another 460 or wait it out and pull the trigger on a 570/580

Another 460 is what i would do you have one already. You should be able to pick one up here in the for sale section for about 100 dollars. So another 100 dollars or 300 for a single card upgrade. If you look here sli 460s is about equal and beat a 580 in some test.

Or you could try it and see. Some retailers are pretty liberal about returns, if you have problems with microstuttering you could always return it. Some people notice it, some don't,.

I would add another 460. Then again, people react differently to microstuttering.
It doesn't bother me, nor does it bother a lot of people I know. There are some people who have an issue with it, though.
A 570/580 is too expensive (imo) and I think the 460s will perform better.

edit: sorry, didn't see the posts above me :/

If you won't be using it immediately, just wait.

^ This. If you don't need it yet, wait. Even if you decide to go for a 460, it might be cheaper later.

Thanks for the all the replies guys, +rep for all. Adding another 460 was my original plan to begin with, since it does compare to a 580 at a fraction of the price, but with the 1gb vram and possible micro stutter(which I actually had no idea about when I first decided this) are my main concerns really.
