i5-2500K overclocking results

I tried overclocking my CPU to a decent 4.5GHz (stock of 3.3GHz) by just changing the "Turbo Ratio" to 45 and keeping BCLK to 100MHz as recommended. Why is that when I monitor the clock speed of the CPU in Windows, either by CPU-Z or OCCT, it doesn't change from 4.5GHz even when idle? Does this mean that Speedstep isn't working?

Also, when you modify the Turbo Ratio to 45, what happens to Turbo Mode? Does it still give me the 4 Turbo Modes and 1 non-turbo mode?

You technically did OC it to 4.5ghz but it will only go up to 4.5ghz when it is needed like when you use Prime95 to stress test it. That is when you will see it go to 4.5ghz.

Do you see 4.5 GHz when putting the CPU under full load (like with Prime95)?

Well, yes, but why does this behavior not show in CPU-Z? Why does CPU-Z show that the core speed stays at 4.5GHz and never goes down even when idle?

Oh, you didn't say that. You said it never goes up to 4.5GHz.

Do you have CPU C1E and Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology both enabled?

I think I just used the wrong words, I said "it doesn't change FROM 4.5GHz", lol.

Yes, I have both enabled.

All at their default "Auto" settings actually. I have "Ai Overclock Tuner" set to Auto also since AFAIK that's only for modifying BCLK, right?

Ai Overclock Tuner should be set to Manual when overclocking. I don't know if this will make a difference, but change it anyway since you're trying to overclock.

Ok, I set it to Manual now. Still same result with CPU-Z. I use CPU-Z ROG 1.58, btw. Turbo Ratio should be set to "By All Cores (Can Adjust in OS), right? What's its difference with teh "By Per Core"?
