Long Time Lurker, First Time Poster!

Im thinking of upgrading my current GPU (GTX480) and i have a few questions, but first some background:

I'm ESL so please excuse any grammar mistake.

I will mostly be playing WOW and SWTOR (when it comes out). I'd like to play both at the max setting.

Current resolution is 1920x1080.

I will be upgrading to a Dell Ultra Sharp U2711 (2560x1440) in the next 6 months or so.

1. based on reviews i'm thinking of the MSI GTX580 Lightning. Is there a better GTX580 card available?

2. based on my current set up (mother board, PSU) is it possible to SLI the MSI GTX580 Lightning (or other suggested card)? And is it worth it?

3. Should i keep my GTX480 a bit longer? Is there a next generation release coming up anytime soon?

Thank you in advance for any advice from this wonderful community!

1. That will work fine.

2. Yes, your motherboard and PSU will do fine with SLI'd 580s.

3. That's really up to you. At 1920x1080, you should not have any problem maxing out WoW or SWTOR.

Well here is my 2 cents.

The Nvidia 6xx series (Kepler) GPUS are SUPPOSEDLY coming out beginning of 2012 (read: 1st quarter). So if you can hold off, I would, but again that is up to you

I would say your power supply is efficient at 1kW for power, but you can always check out ebay and the holiday deals for a 1.2kW. I mean you can never have enough power....

+1. I would however wait until the 600 Series comes out 1st quarter next year.

Besides the Mars II which will cost you $1500, No the Lightning Xtreme is the best.

To be honest you would probably be better buying one and upgrading to Sandy Bridge or X79 when it hit than buying a second 580.

Next generation middle of next year dude. To be honest if all your playing is WOW you can probably keep the 480 until the 600 series hit's next year or sell it and buy a 570 MSI Twin Forza III or 570 Classified.

Not sure where your from but I reckon we will see used 580 GTX's go for $300 by XMAS, so maybe if your good at sniffing out a bargain go that way.
