Hauppauge HD PVR or Something Else for HD Xbox Recording?

I am looking for the best option to record my gameplay on Xbox in order to make Montages and post full matches that my team plays on Youtube. I am looking for excellent video quality for the cheapest price possible. I would also appreciate it if someone could tell me the best software to use for recording and editing the videos.

The Hauppauge HD PVR seems to be one of the top choices from what I have read but it is quite pricey at around $180 new. Is this the best option or is there anything w/ similar quality at a lower price? I have a laptop so I need an external recording device.

Thanks in advance!

The two more mainstream ones that I know of are the Black Magic Intensity Pro (apparently superior for streaming than Hauppauge) then there is the HD PVR (I have one ). Also the Black Magic uses HDMI which is a lot nicer than component and has slightly better sound quality and a decent bit better video quality. The Black magic is much harder to run though, I can run my Hauppauge on my AMD X64 laptop with no problems, while the Intensity pro requires a decent machine.

Thanks for the help!

What about the Black Magic Intensity Shuttle and Extreme? They are external devices and around the same price as the HD PVR and also use HDMI.

I have the Black Magic Intensity shuttle and I like it. The only downside is that it requires USB 3.0 to run it. Also some people have said they had a difficult time setting it up (because of the drivers). I didn't have a problem but it could be confusing for some I guess.
