Selling 6950, replace with ??? - Page 2

its not really worth the hassle, unless your upgrading to a 580/590/6990. Even when locked, 6950's still a very beastly card

Besides, with that CPU, id be upgrading that WAY before id upgrade the GPU, in the rig in my sig, ive got a 955 with a 580 (long story ) and TBH, i was lucky if i saw a 10 FPS increase in games over the same rig with my old 460 in it (not even demanding games, it tried it in BC2, TF2 and L4D2, after seeing these results is didnt even bother loading up crysis or metro to compare). The Phenom X4 is, plain and simple, too much of a bottleneck on todays high end GPU's for any realistic performance increase.

Anyways, if your really serious, 6970 over 570 IMO, though we dont know how either will perform in skyrim

Well, I will be upgrading my CPU/Mobo very soon. I was hoping for a price drop on the i5 2500k/i7 2600k when BD was released, but no such luck on that front. Anyways, I will probably be going with the 2500k and motherboard combo as soon as I make my way to Microcenter (which happens to be 3 hours away in Houston) around the middle of December when I take my vacation. It's looking more and more like I may end up just keeping my 6950

Your half way to a crossfire 6950. Upgrading to a 6970 or 570 is more of a side grade.

Keep your card and crossfire it. My

At your resolution, I would suggest just keeping your unlocked HD 6950 as it should still rock pretty much most any game available. The only single card upgrade that would be really worth while is a GTX580, which I upgraded to from a 6950, but only because I game at 2560x1600. New cards should be available in a few months that should offer a compelling reason to really upgrade, but unless you find a killer deal on a 580 I'd wait.

Don't upgrade.. especially for your res.

A 6950 for your resolution is perfect. I even think it's even a bit of overkill. I wouldn't sell keep it...
