How stupid would this be.

Thread Starter
Ok so I am using the specs in my sig. I will be getting $1200 soon. I was wondering what if I oced my cpu to about 3.6ghz and got Sli 580s and upgraded later on down the line, how much of a bottleneck would I be getting with this.
A single 580 would be bottle necked to hell mate.

sli 580s? that would be a rather large bottleneck for that processor ive ur gonna have 1200$ its not that expensive to grab an i5 2500k and a new mobo

i5
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115072
220$

any 1155 mobo.. cost you 70-150$ depending on how high up the chain you wanna go

then uve got about 800$ left to spend on a 580.. and then sli later.

It would be pretty noticeable. Why not just get one GTX580 now and grab another when you upgrade your CPU. You'll save money that way.

Ha ha, I also have a Phenom II X4 would that be a bottleneck also.

Not quite as badly, but yeah, it would bottle neck dual 580s. Your not thinking of running a 580 with a 15'' CRT and generic PSU are you?

Nope Lol I have a 32 vizio tv I would be using and I said I would upgrade my psu XD

CPU aside, I don't think your power supply can handle tri-sli. And just out of curiosity, what frequency do you run that Phenom II at?

in a beige case perhaps

yeah, too much bottleneck on 2 580's, pick up a 460 or 6850/70 for that cpu
