HAF-X Watercooling Advice please.
Looking for a little (well a lot of) advice on a custom Watercooling setup for my rig.
Specs are:-

Core i7 980X 3.33GHz (Gulftown) Extreme Edition (Socket LGA1366) (@ Stock for now)
Stock Cooler
Asus Rampage III Extreme X58 Mobo
Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Triple Channel (CMT6GX3M3A1866C9)
1 x EVGA GTX 580 SC 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-E (Thinking of adding a 2nd)
Asus Xonar D2 7.1 PCI Sound Card
Corsair 950W TX Series PSU - 78A 12V Rail
All tucked away nicely in a Coolermaster HAF-X case.

I was considering a Corsair H100 Liquid Cooling solution but decided against it for a couple of reasons.
1st, for the same performance I may as well gone with a high end Air Cooler (Noctua etc.)
2nd, Watercooling looks sexy xD

I tried watercooling a few years ago but it was a cheapo kit and i was low on funds (and experience).

So anyways, I thought I would ask you knowledgeable lot to suggest a custom setup for me.

I don't have a clue what parts I need so if you're gonna give me a list please remember to let me know ALL the parts i'll need. (I don't wanna order everything and then find out i've got some parts missing when i'm halfway through putting it together lol)

In order of requirements:-

1: Looks
2: Performance
3: Cost (Budget £300-400)
4: Ease of assembly (Im fairly good at reading instuctions)

Thanks in advance.
When it's all bought and setup I'll post some pics.

Location and budget?

You want an RX360 (push pull fans) - Or EK (same as me, not a bad rad, great value) Add an extra 120 for the 2nd 580 at a later date.

D5 pump/res

PUMP / RES
MPC655 Variable Speed Pump ( D5 ) http://cdn2.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/Alphacool-VPP655--Laing-D5-Single-Edition-Pump--VPP655SE-pid-13118.html £60
XSPC RASA BAY RES http://cdn2.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/product.php?productid=11671 £50

Radiator
RX 360 http://cdn2.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/customer/XSPC-RX-Series-360mm-Triple-Radiator--RX360-pid-7875.html £90
Or

You are going to want to add another 240mm Rad that will have to hang off the back of the Case if you are adding another GPU. I would also change that EK cpu block to an XSPC Raystorm, its cheaper and better. Also, a silver coil.

As for fans, I would get some Gentle Typhoon AP-15s or Yate Loon D12SM-12.

Edit: Another option would also be to add an inline reservoir from either EK or Bitspower. Don't get anything bigger than 150 though.

Well I have a 580 and i7 on an EK 360 running 700 RPM GTs push only so I think thats safe thanks.

I said if he adds anther block. He wont be able to fit a 140 or 120 on the back unless its a thin 120 because of the 360 on top. Trust me I tried, he could mount it on the outside of the case, guess I could have recommended that. I suppose he could put it all on a 360 but I didnt like my temps with only 1 360 and 2 580s.

I concur with usedpaperclips, 360 is not efficent enough. If you add 2nd gpu the water temperature will be crying for more radiators!

thats very decent setup! Spend a coulpe more EURO for fittings here and there. you should be all set!drunken.gifthumbsupsmiley.png:thumbsups:thumbsups

So what would you recommend instead of a 360? 2 x something else?

A 360 is ABSOLUTLY fine for a GTX580 and a 990X. Considering a reputable member as andrew is saying that he is using the lesser of the 2 rads with slow fans and achieving acceptable temps then you should just go with what he said. A i7 920 and the 990X give off basically the same heat in loop. So what ever his temps are will be about the same. http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/intel_core_i7_990x_extreme_edition_processor_review,6.html

If you get a second GTX 580 in the loop a internal 120 will fit fine as long as the top fans aren't in push/pull internally (you can have the 200mm fans at the top only or have them and mount some on the rad internally if you want.). Push/pull only drops the temps 1-2C max anyways. Or you can mount a 240mm rad on the back as well.

As for fittings you could look into bitspower compression fittings.
