But if you prefer to spend another 250 bucks to get similar performance, be my guest.
My case has a cut out in it under the motherboard, I think I read somewhere it was for installing aftermarket coolers, I'm not sure.

i have heard enough people say it requires a radeon 6970 or a gtx 560.

i never believe the internet on these things
Not sure what you consider playable. Although I don't consider 30 fps on low playable...

Those requirements are just if you want the game to be enjoyable at decent framerates and graphics.

Don't forget that the new 600 series cards come out soon so all other cards are going to have a nice price drop =) that's what im waiting for as well.

Well as of now, the 460 is one generation removed from the latest, no need to upgrade so fast, save your 460, get another one, sli and overclock both with msi's afterburner, and you'll do quite well in BF3

With my rig, on the BF3 beta, with everything on ultra, 2x AA, 8x AF, HBAO, 1920x1080 it was always 45-65fps.

My friend has a similar rig just with a GTX460 768mb and at 1920x1080 with everything on high, 0x AA, 4x AF, no HBAO he gets 35-45fps.

HD5870 is faster than a HD6950?

That chart is off man.

Did you get bother reading that chart, or just look at the FPS results and immediately start pounding the keys in some sort of misguided anger?

The chart is as follows: 1920x1200, 0xMSAA, 16xAF

or u can buy another 460 for 100-120 from here and save money will still having 40 fpf for decent gameplay. just a thought. two 460 are equivalent to a 560

Uh, nooo.

SLi 460s, depending on the game, are usually just a bit better than a 580.

Nvidia (their own internal benchmarks) say you're full of it:
