Which 580? 1920x1080 Watercooled SLI goodness :) - Page 2

What guy above said
Look, thing is built ground up supposedly with OCing in mind and probably beats the Matrix and Xtreme in theory. Buy the Evga Classified hydrocooper and end this non sense. Pre installed with great warranty and fantastic cards that will. Net you 60fps average with 40mins on all ultra intensive games @1920 x 1200/1080 and should get you 50fps average atleast on 1600p.

Evga classy sli hydrocooper.
/end thread

A. All other gtx 580s besides the lightning and matrix suck
B. the lightning and matrix are non ref, dunno about blocks.
Avoid both problems, get a warranty for watercooling and the best gtx 580 in the market.
Go classy or go home.

For 1080p? AMD people have got everyone going crazy over vram these days...
I know, I think 1.5gb vram is more than enough for 1080p.

Yup yup, even with 8xAA I believe. Maybe texture packs could possibly... Nah. 1.2gb is the min id keep for true max on 1080p.
Btw Op this is how I would arrange your decision:
Single gtx 580? Asus matrix
Air cooling sli? MSI Lightning
Water cooling? EVGA Classified
LN2? Hard to tell, I think the evga has 22 vrms (I'm sure their high quality, dunno the manus), followed by 18 for the matrix and 16 for the lightning. Quantity is not as important as quality but knowing that these cards were meant for LN2, I think their vrm quality is quite high. You really can't go wrong with either one of these three, but WC I'd take the classy hands down.

On so I've narrowed it down to either 2x EVGA 1.5GB or 2x ASUS DCII 1.5GB. Personally I'm kind of leading towards the EVGA cards but if the DCII performs better I much rather get that. I'm not really put off by the size of the DCII because I'll be putting it on water once I get it.

EVGA allows for water blocking and it dosen't void warranty. In fact they encourage over clocking. They expect it.

Here's an example just today that proves how EVGA handles situations of such nature should things go wrong.

My Worst Nightmare... Has Come True - though his nightmare came true, EVGA came through.

Under water the reference EVGA is going to be your best option easily. Even if the AR lifetime warranty dosen't appeal to you, thier excellence in standing behind their products speak volumes. Countless horror stories which end in an easy replacement and awards to prove it year in and out.

EVGA is great all around from products, support, web forum & warranty 11 years strong. EVGA FTW, no contest.

I took that last paragraph from a *snip* on another thread I posted. Good luck and let us know which way you ended up going.

And no, I don't work for EVGA. Last four series of cards were all Sapphire ATI's. I'm just glad when I switched over I found a vendor that I can rely on with my high end card.

PS. Edited to add: If you have multiple monitors VRAM is King. Only for single 1080p monitor it dosen't matter as much. A better GPU over higher VRAM is better for single monitor solution.
