Need advice on repasting

Thread Starter
I plan on applying new thermal paste onto my AMD HD 5850 GPU and need some advise since i've never done anything like this before. I have a few questions to ask before i embark on this adventure...

Which thermal paste should i get? I am considering Arctic MX-4, is that good? Also, would it be OK for me to use 70% ethanol to wipe of the old thermal paste? I've been hearing isopropanol but since i work in a research lab, there's HEAPS of 70% ethanol lying around

Help/advise much appreciated

I find that using a plain ole' paper towel usually works best for removing thermal compound.

Sure you can use some rubbing alcohol too, but I usually dont find the need for that.

As far as compound goes, you can't go wrong with some Arctic Silver, or Shin Etsu.
