But if your going to shell out enough cash for the x79 platform in general why would you air cool it?

It probably will be. Used Extreme-z's are going for $320 right now. Imagine the price tag on the premium motherboards when they get released.

Watercooling can be complicated unless you use a Antec/Corsair cooler.

Hardest thing about water cooling is choosing the right parts. Hell I went through a pump, 2 rads, and 2 cases, before I figured out what I really needed. I think the hardest part for me was the pump, how to mount it and learning case clearance vs rad thickness.

My X79 build will be epic though, mobo tray inside a custom built 9 inch deep 7ftx3ft table with clear plexiglass top, fully watercooled. Why so long well 3 27" Monitors take up alot of space.

Why not? We know nothing about the thermals of LGA 2011 CPUs and if it would even benefit greatly from water.

First picture has epic face written all over it.

I like how that ram is placed. Air blows right over them through the cpu fan.

2011 has a huge die so I think water will be very effective. I believe it's around double the size of sandy bridge

I prefer asus' revolution series
I hear way too much complaining with RoG stuff and not a peep with revolution

Same precedent as the launch of Bloomfield's Nehalem Platform. Expect the RIVE to retail for 400USD at minimum if we follow precedent. It will remain their flagship X79 motherboard for a prolonged period similar to the RIIE.
