Hi Overclockers
I'm new to this forum, stumbled upon i during research for this computer problem i'm having

Laugh if you will, i play online videogames(DOTA mostly) and my brother has a tendency to leave the game if he dies, as a result; Boom, IP BAN.

I attempted to reset my ip by going to command prompt in windows 7 ( start, command prompt)
i typed in "ipconfig.exe."
Then, 'ipconfig /release'
then, 'ipconfig /renew' these are where the problems lie and i need your help.
I get a response saying. "windows ip configuration, an error occurred while renewing interface local area connection : the system cannot find the file specified"

I'm running windows 7 with a router and a modem. Thanks and much appreciated

Firstly, if its an IP ban from an online server, you will need to restart your router/modem as ipconfig /release and renew only refreshes your internal IP.

You need a new external IP, not a new internal IP. Can you change the MAC address on your router?

You probably will be re-assigned a new internal IP address on restart of the router. (Assuming you havent set a static internal IP)

Aslong as your external is renewed your internal IP should be fine.
