465 sli or single 570/480 ?

Thread Starter
so yeah would it be better to get another 465 or a single 570/480 ?

the problem with sli is that i would need a new PSU and possibly a new motherboard.the one I have now supports crossfire but not sli and the lanes would run in 16x/4x

this would be a Christmas present, the max budget would be around 340. So as much as i would love a 580 it's out of reach =/

If you don't mind the GTX 480's baggage, they are brute GPU's, perform well and will save you money.

I'd lean towards the single 570, the 4xx series cards seem to generate more heat relative to its comparable 5xx series cards
post #7 of 22
I originally had a GTX 570 in my machine and I loved it. It handled any game on high settings with very nice framerates. The only reason (and I mean ONLY reason) I upped to a 580 was because I just wanted that fuzzy warm feeling inside knowing that I had the best there is. So my vote goes towards the 570. Great card

570 out of those choices. Most people around here tend to lean towards single card solutions if possible, to avoid any SLI head aches, and also to allow SLI down the road to add longevity. If you can find a 480 cheap enough then get one(they go fairly cheap these days), but the 570 performs equally well and is cooler and quieter.

Few watts difference, the major change was the cooler on 5 series is quite a bit better than 4.
