FINALLY bought my SGSII! + more.

Hey guys, so excited. I finally got my SGSII today! Sheer joy. You're probably thinking "Why the hell didn't you wait for the Nexus Prime?", Well honestly I don't really like the design and the fact that there's no home button and capacitive buttons... it just irks me. The resolution on the SGSII is JUST fine and perfect for me. I'm coming from an iPhone 3GS so anything is a frigging upgrade, what a terrible screen on that crap, lol.

I got the International version too which is good because I find it much more attractive than the US models and it's super easy to find good cases for it and accessories I just got an Otterbox commuter and it's STILL thinner than my 3GS with the case on.

Also, My GTX570 + Razer blackwidow + CM storm mouse came in today... what a glorious day. lol

I'm loving mine. I was at work all day and it died on my (Only had like 30% battery from when I bought it). I'm just waiting for it to charge now heh. I Just want to play with it and customize it out the wazoo!

I'm paranoid as HELL to root it, so I probably won't. My friend tried rooting his Galaxy S last week and it bricked it, completely.

Gratz!

I also have the international version, and I am extremely happy with it! I am especially happy because I only got it for 1200 SEK from Sweden since my dads old phone died and they refunded the difference to buy an SGS2.

I highly recommend rooting and installing a custom ROM ASAP!!! I cannot stress this enough. With stock kernel and ROM I got around 40% when I came back home from school, and with my new kernel and ROM I have 75% when I come home from school. This is with very heavy use at 25% brightness.

I would highly recommend installing CriskeloROM v26 or LiteNing ROM v6.1 with a KI3 radio. For the kernel, I would recommend SpeedMod K2-1 or T1-39.

3 months ago I didn't know what rooting was at all. Now I am installing new ROMS and kernels every week. I was extremely paranoid when I first started, but now I am not at all. Installing Lite'Ning ROM v6.1 (my favorite ROM) literally takes 5 minutes to do, and the change will blow you away. Installing SpeedMod also only takes another 5 minutes. All of this is done with a program called Odin v1.83.

Besides, you can do a back-up so if anything goes wrong you can recover. Since I started rooting 3 months ago I have now rooted most of my friends phones and my families and installed custom ROMS for them, and nobody has had any issues.

Read what I edited above

Also, it is impossible to brick your phone if you do exactly what XDA says. People who brick their phones are people who don't follow instructions or are not patient. Luckily, the ROM's I posted all can be flashed via Odin in a few minutes. Hell, you keep everything on your phone too!

he has the vibrant or the 4g i brick mine all the time... there hard to fully brick..

have him try one click on brick
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1153310

and there is almost no way to brick a phone form rooting.. unless he unplugged it or something all root is is opening super user to add programs like titanium backup

What ROM would you like to download? As a new SGS2 user I would highly recommend Lite'Ning Rom v6.1. Not only is it the easiest ROM to install, it is also one of the most popular. You will get a ton of new features as well. Just follow the guide in the thread here. Ask me any questions as well or send me a PM for help. I have done this so many times now that I done use guides

http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1095274

I would also install Speedmod after you install this, but that can wait until you are more comfortable with the whole process. Installing Lite'Ning will also root your phone and install CWM recovery which will allow you to do back ups, etc.
