Right now I have uv cathodes, just picked up some blue leds, I dont like the contrast between the uv and the blue. I thought it would match better. One part of case is blue and other part uv. Make's me angry, deep breath inhale exhale, dont punch, dont break. OK Does white LED's work with UV cathodes, Will the White cancel the UV or Will it look worse than the blue. I allready tried UV LED's and They are intense purple, I thought the blue would look better. Well it does a little bit, but not much.

for lighting your better off using one type the uv and leds are diffrent kinds of lights so they will always look awkward together

UV light is basically a filter over white light.
The black coating on the UV CCFL blocks ALMOST all of the visable light.
That being said, it emits low quantities of light for the same amount of energy as a normal white light.
If you were to put a white or any other color CCFL it will overpower the UV CCFL, because more light is emitted at the same wattage. it's unfiltered. hopefully that helps answer your question. there's 2 different ways to get UV light, but the coating is the cheapest way. I'm going off of a few month old google search off the top of my head, but the answer to your question is it will overpower \\ cancel the UV effect.

Peak spectrum of UV light

relative white light LED spectrum

added pics for fun
The black light emits only that little tiny bit of purple spectrum of a normal white light.

Thank you Z32, I guess the 2nd graph explains why green and orange seem to show better, white shows good but absence of color, thats probally hard to graph. Yea kinda dumb I guess use a flash light and bam. Nothing, no cool colors. Are there any companys making thin cathodes, that would be cool. I guess could try and find a way to blend blue leds and uv cthodes. It just suck when you get your case right and cant get the lighting the way you want it. Maybe dim em

graphs are one thing, but since i've tried almost every combo there is, i can tell you that white will overpower damn near anything. unless of course you buy an led kit with dimmers, which i eventually bought. if you can control your placement and brightness, and be a little creative and even wire up single leds here and there, you can have an amazingly lit rig.

Yes, basically what you would have to do is be careful with the way your lights are positioned. knowing that any color and especially white LEDs will overpower UV, you need to position the LEDs in very focused areas and be careful with reflections of light. if you have a black case and dark colors, with a focused directional light, you can still have the contrast of both colors and lights.
Even then, for you to be able to see the effects of UV light, the intensity of outside and surrounding light needs to be less than what is emitted by the UV light. very dim, or very well focused without stray reflection

haha good point, and thank you!. but that's why i went with a multicolor led kit...with an all white build, the lighting needs to supply some color, and the kit has 24 different colors, so i never get bored!

this is the kit i have. plugs into the wall, but i routed everything so it unplugs right out of the back of my case. mixed with white accents, i'm a happy camper.

so sorry to derail this thread. hopefully the OP finds this info helpful.
