XFX 6870 Stock Firmware?

Thread Starter
Hi, I recently just bought a XFX 6870 (HD-687A-ZNFC), and had artifacting and other problems without overclocking. What I did was look all around to find a stable bios for it, and i flashed the bios given on the Xfx support directory http://xfxstorage.com/Support/BIOS/Video/ATI/6870/ClockFix/ ...

Well it flashed, the problem is still there, except a new problem that in that bios, the fan speed is near 90% its unbearably loud, and the temps were and are always fine.. Ive been usin afterburner and set up a speed profile, but i wantto go back to the old bios, the original one, but the backup i made is corrupted. Can anyone give me their original bios from XFX 6870 (HD-687A-ZNFC)?

Try these out: http://www.techpowerup.com/vgabios/index.php?page=1&architecture=ATI&manufacturer=XFX&model=HD+6870&interface=&memSize=1024

Also if you want another brand, -namely ASUS- i can give you my bioses as well.

thank you soo much for the response, im too scared to try the asus bios on the xfx, unless its not dangeous since im new to this. i flashed one of them from the site you gave me, and the clock is stuck on 300 mhz at any time, 2D/3D work both, and my original bios did not have that problem, i guess it was the second revision, and the ones posted on the site are first revision. The latest revision, is with the fans way high on the xfx site, but they dont provide the working second version

I'd just rma the card if I were you. Unstable at stock is never good.

It'd be best to download a clean BIOS from the link from Nautilus.

If possible, that would be great ^

Would xfx let the card be rma'd after i flash back your original bios.. or does it void their warranty any idea?

They can't know whether you flashed your BIOS or not. There's nothing to void there. Just make sure you backup the original BIOS file. Whenever you need to send your card to RMA, flash it with original BIOS and then send it.

You can use GPU-Z to backup your BIOS image. As shown below:
