Microsoft... You have got to be kidding me...

Last year I bought an Xbox and I bought 1 year of Xbox live Gold membership through the Microsoft website. The order said that it would automatically renew next year, so I called Microsoft up and told them to cancel automatic renewals... I made sure that the rep canceled automatic renewal.

Wouldn't you know, I just got an e-mail saying Microsoft saying that I have been billed for $60 for automatic Xbox Live Gold for a year... I'm pretty pissed at them right now, because I specifically asked the rep to cancel automatic renewals. I contacted Microsoft support and explained the situation and he said Xbox Live is non-refundable and that it is my fault it renewed... I argued with him and he didn't even understand me half the time. His English was pretty bad.

Anyway, I hung up and called them back and this rep told me the same thing. He said it was my fault and that there was no way for me to get a refund...

I'm really pissed at Microsoft right now. They won't let me refund, but is there anyway to deny the payment on my Credit Card statement? I have never done this before, so I just want to make sure it is possible. I refuse to give those thieves $60.

Well, go to the bank that issued you your CC and just, whats the word... dispute the transaction. lol That should work.

edit: state that you were charged x amount and you never authorized it. I had to dispute a couple transactions before and if you have a credit card it should be easier than with a debit card. Credit card disputes take I think at least 2-3 days while debit card disputes take as long as a month.

It actually is my dad's CC, but whatever. Should I call the CC company or go to the bank we got it from?

Tell your dad to dispute it for you. There's a number at the back of his CC, tell him to call that and do the charge back through there.

Sounds good. I will do it in the morning. I will try Microsoft Support tomorrow morning again and hopefully I can talk to someone who can actually speak and understand English properly. If they deny it, I'll just call the number.

It is possible to do through Microsoft, If you dont get the answer you are looking for, ask for a manager.
