Upgrade sig rig or new build? - Page 2

If I am mainly gaming, would there be a point to goto that dual core Xeon board? The more I think about it, the more I want to move over to Intel. I just have no idea where to start.

How much is that 3930k going to be compared to the 990X in price and performance?

If gaming, there's absolutely no reason for you to go with anything less, or more, than the i5-2500k.

buy yourself a high end 1366 board with a 6 core 970/980/990x..

or go high end 1155 SB and get a 2500k or 2600k

personally if you wanna get sexy with your build and you dont want to wait for new tech down the road go with the EVGA SR-2 Classified motherboard and dual Xeon 6-core 5680s and TRi-Quad SLI
you wont need to upgrade to play any game for 10+ years

If you want to be on the super high end of components and gaming then I would suggest waiting a few months for the new Ivy Bridge stuff to come out.

Otherwise, just ditch the AMD now and buy an i5 2500k and a decent motherboard and you will be near the current pinnacle of computer gaming. This is definitely the best bang for your buck at the moment, aside from keeping your current setup.

I may wait to see what Ivy Bridge has to offer before I make any solid choices. All in all, I want to make the switch, just want to do it at the right time. and know I made a good decision on what I got.

Wait for Ivy Bridge and 600 series. I'm building a SB now and I'll make an IB when it comes out.
