Best mic to buy?

Thread Starter
First off, I apologize if those goes in another section of the forum, I couldn't decide to place it here or the Peripheral section..

I love my RX900's, worlds better than my Turtle Beaches I had IMHO, the only issue is no built in mic. Right now wrapping my logitech mic around my neck isn't exactly my favorite thing to do, so, what would you guys suggest as a standalone mic?

I figured budget wise keep it reasonable, I just need a mic that's clear enough for tactical gaming, no HD commentaries or anything.

Also, I'm willing to consider new headphones with a mic if there's any with nice quality audio, but they seem to be in the 300+ range for quality ones.

Once again sorry if this shouldn't go here.

Use the same setup for my RX900's, the big clip just barely fits in the cord. The smaller clips don't fit at all. Still, it picks up great on your desk if you leave it there

Zalman for sure. I've got 2. both are absolutely perfect (even after the first one was run over my by chair a good 500 times xD)

Got one wrapped up around my ATH-A700 and it intergrates perfectly and seamlessly with it, and the other coiled up and just sits in front of my HTPC/Media Center and functions as a desk mic.

I personally can't stand having anything clipped to my shirt, or wrapped around my neck, or any of that. I recommend a desktop stand mic like this (just for reference, any model/brand would do):

Logitech Desktop Mic

Or you can do what I do - I use the mic on my webcam most of the time with my headphones.

I'd use my mic on my webcam if it didn't pick up my PC like a roaring jet, and it's not even next to it.

My Turtle Beaches mic was about the only really good thing I could say about them because it filtered out all the other noise in my room really well.

I'm pretty much leaning towards the Zalman. Most desktop stand mics I've had HORRIBLE sound quality come from, so if you can recommend a good one, feel free.

The one I linked has noise-canceling tech and should supposedly block out that unwanted background noise. They're really quite good mics to be honest. I have one of the Labtec mics that those designs stemmed from, from 2002 that still works perfectly and quite well.

If your webcam is picking up too much sound in the background, you need to turn down the gain/mic boost, and up the volume reception.
