Low FPS on GTA 4 With the 560 TI - Page 2

Try out some of the GTA4 mods and see if they help.

Also, boot into Safe Mode and driver sweep to make sure there are no traces of your old ATI drivers, or re-install Windows.

Other than that, try turning down your settings for the game.

Also might try some older nVidia drivers, the newer ones were mainly for the Beta and I've seen some performance drops in other games because of it.

I get around 51FPS average with a OC'd 460, though I run out of VRAM at 1080p, the mods chew through it!

With a 560Ti you will get about 20%~ more FPS if your i5 Dualie at 3.8ghz can handle it, which it should. smile.gif

I wouldn't install any mods to the game until you get the FPS issue sorted. You resolved the issue by turning off shadows? how many FPS do you get now?

Don't use driver sweeper, boot in Safemode and Delete just the ATI Folder.

Reinstall the Nvidia drivers, 275.33 works great for me so I recommend using it. Don't forgot to use the "Clean install option" in Nvidia installation.

Cool, I usually reboot into safe mode, then run that program, then reboot. I'm not sure if it's entirely necessary, but that's the way I've always done it, just to make sure I didn't have any of the files in use.

driver sweeper is OK to use just for removing ATI drivers, it used to do bad things to your windows install, removed files to make M$ think it's not genuine, but I believe they resolved that.

The "clean install option" in the nvidia installer doesn't actually remove the old drivers either, it just resets your settings back to default as far as I can tell. I usually check it anyway, but I have found several leftovers of older drivers from nvidia, after doing a "clean install".

1GB VRAM is not enough for GTA IV or any other modern game.

Do not use driver sweeper, catalyst install manager will do the same job with less problems to fix up afterwards.
