Those programs favor more cores over hyperthreading. when comparing i5 i7 to the 1100t and 1090t. I really doubt IvyBridge is going to improve IPC by tons. I suspect a few % and it will likely improve clockspeed. It may perform better but the 1100t is a great workhorse for those applications. It is also really really affordable right now !!

thanks for all the responses. I think I'm gonna play the waiting game unless I spot a 1090t or 1100t for ~$100. Maybe Black Friday.

Get the 1035T! It has a lower clock but it overclocks a lot better because of the 95W.

I'm still testing mine at 4Ghz with only 1.39v for vcore! You will need 1600 MHz Ram though.

I can't believe there's not more people voting for the 8150 here. The chip has received a lot of criticism, but it's really not that bad.
Fact: It is the fastest chip AMD has ever produced. Just because it doesn't completely own the i7 as it was hyped to do, everyone says it's horrible. Yes, there are some benchmarks where it can only tie or finish slightly behind the 1100T, but those benchmarks are few and the FX more than makes up for it in the more heavily threaded benchmarks where it trounces everything else. So if you're doing video editing and threaded tasks like that, then the 8150 is more than worth the extra $70 over an 1100T.

I have the same decision to make .
I am giving Bulldozer a miss at this stage . I have decided to go with an 1100t for the next 12 months and see how AMDs new architecture improves - if at all . I already have a machine with a 1090t and it is pretty decent - But I have decided to un-mothball my old 890fx board and rebuild it ( GA-890FXA-UD5 ) with a Thuban ( either 1090t or 1100t ) in Au there is only $21 difference in price So my decision is 1090t or 1100t now as I have completely given up on BD .
If you can get an 1100t for nix it is a no brainer - TAKE IT !
