AMD Athlon llx4 640 temp

Thread Starter
hi,
my friend bought a new pc with an AMD athlon llx4 640@3.0GHz and msi 760gm-p33 mobo.when he runs games like rage or dragon age 2 the cpu fan gets loud.but its quiet at idle.cpu core temp is 25c at idle and 53c during stress test with prime95.

now my questions are,
is the a way to reduce fan noise?fan is at 2423 RPM when the core temp is 25c at idle and 4675 RPM when in 100% load at 53c(prime95).
and are these temp readings normal.
he is using speedfan for temp reading and using a stock cooler for CPU.

I had the same problem with my Athlon II 640 stock cooler, i think the best solution is to buy an after market cooler, a cheap one will do, like a CM TX3 or 212+

I agree. Get a after market cooler. The 212+ is a good one.

I had a 635 before and I could barely hear it. Either way a Hyper 212+ should do the job.
