Advice on new build

Thread Starter
hi all...
i'm planing my new build and need some advices from the experts.
this is the list of parts:
Quote:
Case - Xigmatek Elysium window silver
MB - Asus Maximus IV Extreme-Z
CPU - Intel Core i7 2600K
Graphic Card - Asus Matrix GTX-580 Platinum
Memory - Corsair Dominator-GT 3x4 GB, DDR3-2000, CL9@1.65V
PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower XT TPX-875M - 875 Watt
CPU Cooler - Antec H2O 920 Liquid Cooling System
HD - Western Digital Caviar Black, 7200rpm 64MB 1TB SATA-3
Combo - Samsung SH-B123L, BluRay ROM, DVD-RW
Fan Controler - Zalman ZM-MFC3
Headset - Logitech Wireless Gaming Headset G930
my first doubt is memory, i have read that Dominator GT and i7 2600k could hang system...

second is PSU/GPU compatibility since GPU need 2x 4Pin Molex and i don't know what the best PSU for this system...

if someone could help, or give other idea in some component that i must change to take advantage of the system, please post...

tkx in advance...

Looks nice, do you really need and i7?

Also you want a beefer cooler really, maybe a h100 or even have a look at watercooling.

The PSU is Ok, but it looks a bit ugly to me, do you not maybe want something which is better aesthetically.

And Drop the "Fan Controler - Zalman ZM-MFC3" and pick up a lamptron fc2 or touch.
(Zalman ZM-MFC3 only has a pathetic 8.4Watts per channel.)

Depending on what you want to do, maybe go with the i5 2500k and save some bucks. Also maybe wanna look at the gskill snipers rams (LV 1.25 or 1.5v ). The hdd's i'd change to a pair of samsung F3's and raid0 them. The fan controller def look at lamptron FC2 or the FC5.

wow.. fast replies... tkx

for cooling i will take the h100 (i don' t knew about it )...
about CPU i follow the idea Bigger=Better , since the difference in price is not a problem

@FREELINE57
you are talking about the G.Skill [SNIPER] 3x4GB Kit, DDR3-1600, CL7-8-7-24@1.6V ?
can't find 1.5V in my supplier... this perform better than Dominator-GT, or is because compatibility?

about HD i will read about advantages of the RAID since i have never try it...

one more time tkx for replies.

Well, the only difference between the i5 2500k and the i7 2600k is hyperthreading, So if you are using programs that are designed for hyper threading then yeh the i7 would be better, but if you are just playing games then the 2500k will perform the same.

No, you wanna look for 2x4Gb kits, If you get 3x4Gb, you will run 2 in dual channel and 1 in single channel, unless you can fill the last one, the build will look awkward as well. You might wanna get the Silverstone 650W (looks nice)/ HX650 which will power your system well. If you wanna get a 850W for SLI, I recommend the AX850.

Get cheaper RAM and a SSD instead. Best decision you will make in a long long time. You can definitely go cheaper on the mobo. Its a Z68 without the video output.... why? Get the Asus P8z68 Pro, if you wanna stick to Asus. But, I would personally go with the Asrock Extreme4 or 7 (what I got).

For closed loops, I would get the H80 / H100.

so for memory i will be good with 4x4Gb from corsair, right ?

for the PSU i will take the advice from sloppyjoe123 and get the Corsair AX850

this build is intended for gaming, programming and OC

hi again...

in matter of HD i have reviewed my choice and opted by:

WD VelociRaptor WD3000HLHX, 10'000rpm, 32MB, 300GB, SATA-3 - for operating system
WD Caviar Black, 7200rpm 64MB 1TB SATA-3 - for data

i have looked at SSD but is a little expensive (maybe later)
and about the 2 Samsung F3 in raid0 i can't find any comparison with Vraptor, some advice on this will be welcomed...

for memory i have changed the dominator gt 3x4Gb for 2 kits Vengeance Red, 2x4GB, DDR3-1866, CL9@1.5V, any advice on this will also be welcomed...

sorry if i borrow you with my questions, but there are so many choices and i'm a little confused because i don't want to kill my system because one component...

again tkx in advance
