Also, are you going to make the inside of the frontpanel look good as well or isn't that important since it'll hardly be seen?

What are you planning on doing with the original front? I thought that was the point of building one from scratch.

All the old face is just a spacer plate, there isnt much left of it looking at it now.

That's what I've been wondering... Maybe the new one will be attached over the old one..? (or vice versa) The new one looks killer either way
