Couple things about working stainless,

Its not the friendliest material to work with, its hard steel. It's ruins drill bits if you let the bit get hot . Stainless has a melt point of 1510c mild steel is 1300c, If you push a drill bit it cooks the tip ruins the temper of the bit rendering it useless.

I wouldn't recommend working with stainless unless you are experienced with working with metal.

If you want stainless because your going to polish it, you have to change all your cutting disk to brand new one. If you use one that you have cut mild steel with the cut will rust. The mico fine mild steel shaving mix with the stainless. Expect to shred dremel disk like never before O and it hates jigsaw blades unless they are specific blade made for cutting it and you use the right speed on a jigsaw.

I thought you were going to make the mesh stick out a lot more, like 2 cm.

speaking of stainless that is why I have diamond hardened drill bits for cutting or drilling stainless. But man they are expensive.
