Second Fan on Hyper 212+?

Thread Starter
Hi everyone,

I joined this forum today and i really like it smile.gif.
I already have questions:
- Does adding another fan to my 212+ makes really difference?
- If it is the case: what fan should i take?

Greets,

You should get some slight drops in temps but I wouldn't expect too much.
depends on your case. generally, you will only see an improvement if your case lacks flow. i dont know much more than this so ill stop here smile.gif

Depends which fans you add, if you add one of those delta or san ace fans, then you should at least get 5c drop in temps, that is if you have 2x delta or 2x san ace in push pull configuration, but they can be really loud(50db+).

Edit: In my opinion, if you aren't trying to reach 4.8 to 5.0 GHz overclock on that 2500k and you are happy with your temps, then there is really no point in putting another fan.

You will see a change in temps if you switch to an NH-D14 as its pretty much the best air cooled cpu heat sink.

Doing a push/pull config is better than changing the fan for a better one or faster one. Ide recommend it but if your staying stock clocks then it will be fine without.

Look at item 1 in my sig. I tested a bunch of fans on a heatsink not terribly different from your 212+, including some p/p. You will generally not see much difference. I am running tests on the D14 right now and I'm not seeing much benefit to a pull when you have a push.

Push-pull on Hyper 212+ is more for looks than any significant temperature reduction.

I agree with the above comments. Adding the pull fan doesn't do much more than add noise and look cool. I think I might take my pull fan out tonight.

I added a $10 Scythe Slip-Stream. Dropped load temperatures around ~3c.

I fold, so I like two fans on my CPU for failure resistance. If one fan fails, my CPU won't overheat like a mofo.

Agree with the majority in that a second fan isnt a big decrease in temps. Better to just replace the Blademaster that comes with it with a higher static pressure and higher cfm fan.
