Recommendations for a Phenom. GO!

Thread Starter
Give me a good good processor that will NOT limit any of the components in my signature rig and is not outrageously expensive. The Athlon II x2 260 I have right now is not going to cut it for my incoming GTX 560.

Someone suggested this to me (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...3995&Tpk=zosma). Can I do better? Keep in mind that I find that price range very sexy and I will be adding 4 more gigabytes of the G.SKILL RAM and or a decent sound card.

GO!

x6 1055T is only $150
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103851

Unfortunately the BE version of the x6 is pushing $200

And I am very happy with my Asus Xonar. Worth more than $80-90 IMO, and if you will have an open x1 slot go with the Xonar DX

GO!
That zosma has the possibility to unlock to x6, so that's kind of cool. If you just want a nice budget x4, I'd go with the x4 955. It looks like newegg has them for $105 right now, which is a great price for true quad core.

I was thinking that as well.. or the 965. The Zosma is cool for the possibility of unlocking but from what I've read, it's not a sure thing. Plus I am not sure how my BIOSTAR's unlocking capabilities would fair with the Zosma.

I'd like a processor that will do more than above average on games. Nothing extraordinary but something pretty good. I am considering the 955, 965 or MAYBE the 1055T.

Yeah, it's always a gamble doing that. I had a phenom II x2 that unlocked to x4, but there were some drawbacks.

Really the extra 2 cores on a x6 aren't really an advantage in gaming, so it's probably not necessary for you. I would say if gaming is your primary concern, just go for the x4 955 for $105. It OC's the same as a 965, and is cheaper. Save you some money for that sound card you desire.
