If the game is fully loading 4 cores at 3.8ghz, I can't see 4 cores at 4.2ghz or whatever the newer chips run stable giving much headroom. 6 cores gives you some breathing room for anything running in the background.

His 2500k has only 4 cores. I think the 960t is overpriced at $125. If you can find one for a $100 I'd go for it.

The only reason Zosma is losing to 955 Deneb is because no one on this forum has any idea what a Zosma is or what it can do. That is all.

What would be the advantage of Zosma over Deneb. How much performance increase is expected in terms of percentage?

Is Zosma still unlockable to x6?

Possibly. The only guaranteed advantage is it uses less power (as a quad core anyway) and therefore is likely to overclock higher.

right. it's a Thuban chip with two cores turned off. lower TDP, better IMC. this is my understanding.

if i were buying AMD, i'd buy Zosma. but even at $125, at this point in time, it's a tough sell.

What does IMC mean in real-world applications? Are there any benchmarks for Deneb vs Zosma/Thuban(x4)?

not that i'm aware of. think of it like comparing Deneb to Thuban, except Zosma should OC higher than Thuban.

as for the IMC, as far as i understand it (and i could very well be wrong,) it should help with OCing RAM.

Segovax has one. he might be able to speak better to this.

Man if that Zosma is clocked at about 3.2 or 3.3 then I would highly consider it. The asking price is a bit steep in my opinion. The 955BE is only 104 after promo discount which is obviously a good deal.

I'm under the assumption that a better IMC might equal better North bridge clocks. Rule of thumb I always heard was 3.2/3.4GHz cpu with 3.0GHz NB is same (give or take) as 4.0GHz cpu with 2.0GHz NB when looking at benchmarks.

Anyone have Zosma benchmarks (superpi, prime, maxxmem)??
