As far as Crysis 2 goes, isn't it coded to use all of your VRAM? I remember reading about 3gb 580's having 3gb of memory used in game.

is that so? huh...

but still, the VRAM is a bit limiting nowadays, so at this point it's either a sidegrade to a 560 Ti with 2 GB or the GTX 580, dunno if my PSU can take the 580.

First off, change your settings; utilizing everything the card has is the point, and isn't an issue:

I would think it can take it.

Using the optimized Crysis 2 setup for a GTX 580, you'll only be 5FPS higher vs. the 470 settings I listed above.

Frankly, I think this purchase has more to do with "I want something shiny and new that has a 5xx designation" versus any factual data.

Good luck.

Which 570 should i get. I want the 2.5 GB model, and preferably one with better voltage control than the original 570's gimped VRMs.
SLI'ing 570 certainly wouldn't help your VRAM situation, but i have to say a lot of game especially Crysis 2 actually buffer memory. In actual fact it's using less than is being portrayed. If VRAM was a problem you would notice immense FPS drops into single digits when it gets beyond the cards capabilities.

A 580 is the only sensible upgrade from your GPU.

It's only equal at stock clocks, which are a lot higher. 470's are extremely underclocked from the factory. Clock for clock, the 470 is a lot more powerful.

Just bought another (Same model) 470.

Waiting for it to get in!

I'd rather do that, then buy a 580, because I'm waiting for the next gens to start looking affordable (1.5+years)
