I am starting this thread so we can showcase our heatsinks that are no longer being sold - superseded coolers. I am going to post a couple of pics of my Z600R to get started. One could argue that with the Mugen 3, the Mugen 2 has been superseded. But I'd like to see some shots of the original Mugen.

Beware - some heatsinks that should have been superseded and discontinued long ago are still being manufactured and sold new. That's how I came to have an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7, which I disrecommend.

Anyway - obsolete / superseded / "Old" heatsinks:

Cooler Master Z600R. Sold with mounting hardware for AMD, and for Intel 775. You can get a kit that allows you to install it in those and in Intel 1366, 1156 and 1155 sockets, which I did to mount it here - the cpu is an i7 860.

And yes, it can get dirty.

And here it is, clearing four sticks of Ripjaws.

----------------------------------

So. What do you have to contribute?

Wish I had a way to take a pic. I have some that are literally an aluminum block with no fins on them whatsoever and a tiny Asus fan bolted onto it. It it fits AM2+ and AM3+.

Looks similar to this but its solid aluminum. Uses the same fan.

The Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro was an excellent bang for the buck CPU cooler years back for getting mild to somewhat heavy overclocks in the Core 2 days, so I'm not sure why you recommend against it. Sure, it's nothing higher end, but it was commonly ~$25-$35, relatively quiet, and got the job done.

Anyway, no pictures offhand, but I have one of these for another PC (a Pentium 4).

@MURDoctrine - Thermaltake CL-P0025

@Shaded War - Oh how I wish you could get pics.

@Princess Garnett - the FP7 made too much noise for me, and didn't cool worth a darn. I'm sure it was a nice cooler years ago. But that was years ago. My problem with it today is that it is not sold as a cooler of modest abilities and substantial noise. Newbies who have not yet discovered OCN will buy it in innocence. I have the same problem with many of the obsolete Antec cases still being sold with the most minor of updates.

I've got a couple oldies at home that I'll have to grab a couple photos of when I get a chance.

OCZ Dominator 2 strapped to a Coppermine P3 733 (in a funky ASUS CUV266 board w/a VIA DDR chipset) - I also had one for my Athlon XP 1800+ (instead of the nice, quiet fan of the one on the p3, this one had a 60mm Delta on it...oof)

not as old:

Thermalright SI-120 - still attached to a toledo 4400+
OCZ Vendetta 2
CNPS7000A-AlCu - this was used with an early dual opteron board as an alternative to awful directron 1u coolers w/blowers
Gigabyte 3D Rocket - dunno if I still have this one. wasn't particularly fond of it.
Thermalright AX-478 - dunno if I have this one either, but I'll take a looksie and update my post later.
