Yeh I did all that. As I said - the problem happens in the BIOS so it's not a driver issue. I mean there is some level of driver issue because in CCC it always says "AMD Catalyst not available", but there are no display drivers active in the BIOS so it's something on a hardware level :/

Driver sweeper is no good. Atiman is the only way to go.

I used Drivercleaner.net. But either way it still happens in the BIOS so cleaning drivers from the OS is irrelevant on that level...

Not everyone agrees about this. Driver sweeper lets you see exactly what it removes, Atiman does not. If you look in the Atiman thread, there are reports about it causing all sorts of problems.

While I can't say with certainty that Atiman was the cause, I had a lot of problems after using it. Certain Windows services could no longer be started and the ATI driver reinstallation did not go smoothly at all. I lost the ability to toggle portrait/landscape for my Eyefinity setup, which led to an entire night of frustration and countless driver uninstall/reinstalls since my portrait screens were locked in landscape. After numerous attempts, it somehow fixed itself.

I did end up reinstalling Windows shortly after this, due to all sorts of erratic behavior from my PC. It all started on the first reboot after running Atiman.

I've had all this crap from programs that clean drivers before. I always try to avoid using these programs if I can help it...

In case anyone was wondering how my RMA went: after receiving confirmation from Althon Micro that I will be getting a replacement 6950 Toxic, I just opened the box to find... a 5850 Toxic?! This is what I waited three weeks for? wth.gif

According to Sapphire's on policy you are entitled to a card of equal or greater value, not lesser. I would politly call Coustomer service and ask why they gave you a 5850 for you 6950.

Absolutely, I already sent an email requesting that they provide me a mailing label so I can ship back and get an appropriate replacement.

I just don't get it, were they hoping I wouldn't notice? They told me in an email that I'd get a 6950, but it doesn't seem like they accidentally sent the wrong card. The packing list indicates a 6950 replacement, with the serial number of my card listed as the original and the serial number of the 5850 listed as the replacement.

Yeh whatever happened I would not settle for that. Sucks you had to wait all that time only to get something you need to send back. I think I've sent off a card that had nothing wrong with it. I feel like a bit of an idiot for that. I'm just hoping I get my actual card back or a 7 series of equal performance. I'll be so gutted if they send me a refurbed version of my card. Was your replacement a new card or a refurb?
