Im wanting to pull the covers off and do some carbon fiber vinyl in white.

You can take off the plastic casing, I know because mine came with it off when I unpacked it for the first time tongue.gif

I am pretty sure 99.9% of the educated PC builders/modders/upgraders out there would be with me on that. Look at my sig rig. each part was hand picked for the BEST oc ability, I spent a good deal more money on this rig just so I could OC it. If Overclocking it would void the warranty I wouldn't have spent so much on it. not to mention AMD would lose a customer all together with me. Once Overclocking is removed from the game, Intel Nvidia stomps the crap out of AMD/ATI's offerings.
It would also counter the tons of money spent on hardware, most of it is made with over clocker's and system tweakers in mind:)

yeh i understand that, but are you saying i can overclock my cpu and gpu without voiding my warranties? ive already overclocked my cpu to 3.7Ghz cos ive had it for a while n i get like that with components once they've already had a good run. but i just paid £230 for my graphics card so not gonna touch anything yet until im sure :/

thats not nescessarily true. they want you to overclock with their tools if you do it, but it doesn't mean they condone it (as far as the warranty is concerned). im sure amd's website says that using amd overdrive can or will void your warranty.

im hoping to get a clear response from sapphire before i proceed with anything smile.gif its mainly just the power control setting i want to test for now anyway.

i'll check that vid now to!

Your safe to overclock your card. I have been running my Toxic unlocked at 940 core and 5900 memory:) it loves it! plays the crap out of BF3 too! But if I ever have to RMA my card(or anything else) I never admit that I overclocked it:)

you running it with all the AA on n everything? the way ive set it up is the same as the high preset i think. i can turn settings up more but in 64 player maps the frames do drop down pretty bad. with my current settings im usually getting 45-60fps with vsync. sometimes when sniping or something mental happens i get into the low 30's. ive noticed this game looks terrible at anything less than 45fps so i try and stay above that.

i am getting so tempted to start bumping some settings up and appreciate everyones advice but i think im still gonna wait for the word from sapphire. what would you guys do if they told me that changing anything will void the warranty? haha tongue.gif

Also OrangeBunnies ... here's a PIC of the INTERIOR of the Sapphire 6970 w/ Shroud & Cooler removed ...

versus the TOXIC 6950 ...

Better to have space and not need it than to need space and not have it!

The top side of the PCB's look the same, but on the back there is obviously a chip (mosfet driver I think) missing on the 6970 PCB. The 6970 PCB is also missing 5 silver pins (red box on right), anyone know what those are for?

Mine doesn't even hit stock clocks due to the PowerTune throttling when set at 0. I have to up it to 20-25% in order to give it more room to breathe, esp when I'm OCing it up to 955/1500.

I am referring to the mosfet driver (black chip highlighted in red). Atleast I'm pretty sure that's what it is, I could be wrong though. No idea about the BIOS fix on the 6970. Overclocking a single 69xx shouldn't be a problem as you can set powertune, but in crossfire I've been unable to fix my powertune resetting to 0 on my second card past CCC limits.

Your first step is going to be to unlock the card to 6970. For us Toxic user's that means flip the little itty bitty switch by the Xfire bridge input. do this with the PC OFF. Reboot the PC and check GPUZ that your Shader's have unlocked. a standerd 6950 will have 1408 shaders, unlocked it will have 1536 shaders. After verifying that your shader's have unlocked play a few rounds of BF3 with your new 6970! The next step is to down load Sapphire TRIXX. with this utility you can make a custom fan profile to deal with the added heat of unlocking the card and further overclocking. Don't worry if your card seems to run hot, AMD 6950's are safe to over 90c, but lower is better(my card hit's 56c peak). Dont forget the TOXIC card has a Vapor chamber cooler, it coolers much better than a standerd 6950/6970 and is built to be overclocked! It also have loads more power potential! when its all said and done you will have a card that will go toe to toe with the infamous 580GTX!

Read this for a much more detailed info on what you can do to your card and still be safe, and enjoy getting the same performance as a $500+ card:) good luck and happy overclocking my friend!

EDIT: forgot, with the clock's in my sig I run the game at all the ultra settings, with motion blur off, Multi at half, AA at half, HABO is off(useless unless your running eyefinity/surround), its always silky smooth with *****en frams:) the only time it has stutterd was cresting a hill in a massive 64 person match with all kinds of "mental" stuff going on, and it was only for a second, it looks so amazing, while crawling though the dirt with a SV98 I had to stop an marvel at the flower's!

thanks man smile.gif ive actually already unlocked my card and got sapphire trixx wink.gif ive made a custom fan profile and i hit the mid 80's celcious when gaming. the fan speed is on a pretty much straight incline from 0c=0% - 95c=100%. When does yours kick in at 100%?

i think bf3 looks great how ive got it but higher settings are always nice when you can get them! framerates always take priority over graphical settings for me so i'll try keep temps reasonable but push the card a bit at some point to bump up game settings n see whats the best happy medium. i have a big case with 5 fans in it but im wondering if there's not enough air going through it as people always seem to have lower temps than me!! >_<<br />
i think ive read that review before btw but i'll have another look through it!

I have yet to see it go past 57c while gaming, and 64c was the peak while furmark was running.... you must have your fan profile on ultra silent! lol.
I have my fan set at 0% @0c, and a strait incline to 40%@50c, then at 70c it hits 100%. it is slightly loud though...but I am also the weirdo that has2 san ace 1011's on my cooler at full tilt:) lol.
