Do keep us informed of your situation. I have heard Sapphire do this aswell. If they find you do have a faulty card their policy is to replace it with the exact same card, or the new equivalent of said card. right now you would be looking at the Dirt 3 edition, or a Toxic 6970. I "think" the dirt 3 edition is closer to what you will get. I have seen some info on a few site's that claim the difference between the Dirt 3 ad toxic is only the cooler. But cannot back this up with anything.

I do have a question for all you TOXIC 6950 user's. What FPS are you guys pulling on Skyrim and at what video settings are you pulling it at? Please specify your what your OC is, if the card as a +20/50 mod or not, and if your 6950 is unlocked to 6970 Shader's. I will be getting this game very very soon and would like to know what kind of performance to expect:) Thank you!

Specs are:
Toxic 6950 (unlocked to 6970 shaders)
i5 2500k
Western Digital Caviar Black
G.SKILL F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL Ripjaws PC3-12800 4GB 2X2GB DDR3-1600
Seasonic 850W
Gigabyte Z68X-UD3H-B3

I did OC'd my video card (even though i said i won't in my last post tongue.gif) but only to 900/1375. Aside from that, everything at stock. Running Skyrim for the past 2 days and everything is running smoothly at maxed settings. Also did a few tweaks in the .ini files and bumped up the water renderings and the shadow (check out some of the skyrim tweaks and you'll know which ones i'm talking about). There were stutters here and there, but every time it happens it only stutters once in a frame or 2 so almost unnoticeable (only happens when i go to new discovered area, doesn't happen after that).
I'll update this post with the FPS later this week.

Now i'm just hoping the power outtage that happened just now didn't damage my computer worriedsmiley.gif . Won't be able to check it until tomorrow.

I won't comment on my Skyrim performance because for the first time in 4 years my Q6600 is really holding me back. I forgive her, shes just tired tongue.gif.

Had some strange things happen in Skyrim yesterday. I forgot to put my custom fan profile on and while I was talking to someone and I started to see some grey artifacts by the dialogue options. I alt+tabbed out to find out that the card was at 77 degrees C on the default fan profile. I put my custom profile on and it dropped to around 71 or 72 which is where it usually stays and the artifacts were gone. The strange thing is I've had my card hit 80 in furmark and be fine. I dropped my OC to 950/1350 after that to be safe. I've had some grey texture issues before where in certain areas all the textures will turn grey quickly then go back. It'll do this until I get away from the problem area. I assumed this was a missing texture issue but maybe not?

I also noticed that I get the highest card temps in 2D situations (the map is where my card gets the hottest).

Anyone else had issues like these? (I'm on 1536 with stock volts)

Fixed: Found out the issue with the flickering textures was due to disabling vsync.

dont worry i get those same glitches in skyrim to! i also get one where some peoples clothes and some doors look pink! dont happen much at all but im pretty sure its just the game.

as for performance in skyrim-i am running stock clocks with unlocked shaders on the toxic with the ultra preset and 4xaa with fxaa disabled. in towns i get crap framerates a lot of the time, probably about 20-30fps. but other than that its generally a smooth experience, i'd say about 40-60 fps with vsync. the lighting is what kills the performance in the towns, or at least thats what i figured seeing as its the only big change and you are only in a tiny area. this is since the amd 11.11 drivers and i think skyrim may have just got an update to, not sure. the performance was worse before these drivers. still i was expecting to max all the settings and have it run smooth as when i read the recommended requirements! im loving the game so much though i just put up with the framerate drops!

The towns are where I get the bad frames too, anywhere that's not around a lot of buildings plays great. I think it's something with the shading on the stone buildings and our CPUs. 2500k coming soon biggrin.gif.

yeh i was wondering if the cpu was holding me back a bit. i want to get an intel cpu so might sell my mobo and cpu next year and finally switch over smile.gif well unless amd have something real nice that will run on my current board! just played skyrim for a couple hours and the performance was pretty horrible the whole time, apart from in open areas a night.

I'm downloading Skyrim as I type this right now. Since I built my computer I haven't even had so much as a hicop in playing any kind of games but I only have a few high end games to say though but I have heard that Skyrim has had some problems in the towns area with lagging when I get finished downloading the game which will probably be later tonight I'll do some test on the game and let yo know what I come up with
