no. the BIOS on the Toxic should work alot better.

Hey guys.

Just installed my new rig. First thing I did was to see if I could unlock. Here are the results

Congrats on your unlock:) how dose it feel to have a $350+ GPU power for $280?

Your next step is to see if your card is thorttling. If so you need the +20% modd and then to OC that beast! Good luck!

Here is the stock BIOS for the Sapphire 6970 Blue PCB (100311-2SR)

I can confirm that it is compatible with the Sapphire 6950 Toxic as I have tested it on my card.

guys im testing my overclock capabilities and on stock voltage the core clock showed corruption in furmark at 965mhz, but at 960mhz it seems stable - so that lines up with what is said on the front page. however, i have reset the core clock and am now checking the memory clock still on stock voltage, and so far i have it at 1500mhz with no corruption in furmark and it seems stable. does that seem a bit wrong? im a bit scared to push it much further! is it all that dangerous considering im only using stock voltage?

edit: ok i just hit 1515mhz and still no corruption or freezes. maybe i just have an exceptionally good card but im worried lol....

edit: the furmark animation started getting a little bit jerky with the ram at 1530mhz, but at 1525mhz it was fine. though i never actually saw any corruption on the display - im gonna take it as 1525mhz being the max stable.

so for my final overclock i was thinking of having 940mhz on the core clock and 1470mhz on the memory clock. does that sound like a good safe overclock or i should i take one, or both of the clocks down a bit more?

The memory has ECC, so there is no picture corruption, but the speed (not frequency) goes down.
Do bencnhmarks, when clocking memory and when the score begins to go down you are too high.

I see. well after looking at everyone else's overclocks i have decided to go with 930/1450 for now to be safe. I will probably try what you said though tomorrow i think with both clocks. it can be hard to tell though as scores in benchmarking programs vary even when you dont change anything, but im guessing you will see quite a significant drop in results when the clocks are to high?

also here is what ive found so far with stock clocks vs my new overclock....

STOCK CLOCKS...

FURMARK: SCORE (1280x720 preset):3556 points (59 FPS, 60000 ms)

3DMARK VANTAGE: P16957 3DMarks

OVERCLOCK (930/1450)....

FURMARK: SCORE (1280x720 preset):3771 points (62 FPS, 60000 ms)

3DMARK VANTAGE: P17899 3DMarks

That sounds about right. So far after messing with the Voltage a little the max I have gotten stable is 960core and 1475 memory, but the voltage is cranked up pretty high.

how high have u got it? i think mine has overclocked really well without voltage bumps.

ive been doing loads more overclocking tests since my previous post and have decided to use 920/1375.
i'll copy and paste the 2 notepad files i was using to keep track of my results as i was testing if anyone's interested!
it will also show why ive chosen to go with 920/1375.

So as you can see with the individual clock speed tests the results kept getting better and better until the point of display corruption.
but with combined clock speeds it was a different story. i didnt want to take the core clock above 930 as i once had corruption in furmark at 965. the benefit from 920 to 930 was negligible so i kept it at 920. the memory clock seemed to improve things up around 1375 (i forgot to note tests between stock memory clock and 1375). after 1375 the score got worse until i made the jump from 1420 to 1450. seeing as the improvement wasn't much and i was getting closer to the edge of the comfort zone for the ram - i didn't bother going any higher. you can also see that the 3dmark vantage score between 920/1375 and 930/1450 is barely noticable to.

now i see why so many of you have your memory clock at 1375 and the core clock at or very close to 900!

Also @Zdendav - i did get display corruption in the end with the memory! i had it at 1525Mhz and the whole display acted as if it had been shoved to the right by about a third and the right side of the screen that had been shoved off appeared on the left side of my monitor if that makes sense... i also had some weird lines scattering about on one side of the screen. a quick reset of the clocks and a reboot fixed it though smile.gif
