Also its because of this thread that I finally chose the Toxic vs the twin frozr III.
I'm waiting for the weekend to do a bunch of overclocking/benchmarking tests. I'll make sure to post the results here!.

Glad to hear it! Can't wait to see what kind of overclock your going to get on that card. Good luck! and dont forget to post results in here!

Come on Newegg, I need a second toxic!!! How are people handling their custom fan profile?

I've got afterburner set to go up a percent per degree (except on the low end) and then straight line at 54% (I find there to be a large difference in noise from 54 to 55). Then it shoots up past 60 degrees on a steep incline. I find this keeps my max temp around 60 Celsius on skyrim. Granted I'm CPU limited and my gpu does not work hard.

My fan speed goes from 0c/20% - 50c/40% then straight to 65c/55% then straight to 90c/100%. this is a good overall compromise for me as i idle below 40c easy and when watching videos i usually go to around 50c or a few degrees over so the fan stays pretty quiet still. then when gaming i sit in the mid to high 60's(c), ocassionaly it hits 70c but its rare and never any higher. the fan speed seems to top out at around 60-65% when gaming which i find has acceptable noise levels as my case is quite good at muffling sound. before i had it so the fan was going about 10% higher when gaming but it didn't make any difference to the temps so it was pointless having the extra noise. i like to keep things as cool as pos but i cant be putting up with a minature hurricane going on in my flat lol so hitting 70c dont bother me as its still plenty safe smile.gif

Here are my Toxics. I'm running them sandwiched because those are the 2 x16 slots on my mobo. Kind of a stupid PCIe layout, but whatever. The top card runs surprisingly cool thanks to the fact that the cooler vents hot air out the back of the case instead of dumping hot air back into the case like most dual-fan GPU's do. Also, the slant in the fan housing also helps to get air to the fan.

And yes, I really hate my non-modular PSU and my archaic case with no rubber grommets mad.gif. There's also no room behind the mobo to hide cables or rout cables to get a cleaner look...

Messy messy you really need to clean that computer look at all that dirt. But this is a good subject ever since I installed my 6950 into my computer I have noticed it has been attracting a lot more dust than normal. Now grant you this that my computer was only built only a few months ago and I moved into a new house since then so that maybe a factor but I was wonder what others do to keep the inside of there computer dust free especially the graphics card I'm just curious cause I have to constantly have to clean mine like every other day to keep it looking clean here is a few pics of my computer the first one is when it was still being built without the graphic card in the second is when it was in. I have twin 120mm exhaust on top one 120mm intake in the front one 120mm on the cpu liquid cool rad.and the one that you can see in the first pic is a 240mm intake fan just so you guys know what i'm using for fans 450450450

It's not dirt. Just a lot of dust. And yes, I do need to clean it out when I get a chance to. I have to be in the office at 7:30 on Black Friday and my commute is an hour and a half one way, so I have to be up by 5 tomorrow mad.gif. Cleaning the computer out will have to wait until the weekend.

I only had a chance to play a bit of BF3 since I've had the 2nd card installed, and only single player so far. With everything on Ultra with 4x MSAA and HBAO, I never saw the framerate drop below 60 fps at 1920 x 1080 (this is with Catalyst 11.11 drivers + CAP2 and stock frequencies on the GPU's). Hopefully, it will be the same case with multiplayer, but we will see.

I haven't gotten around to Skyrim yet, but I really want to. I'll probably get it once the Crossfire issues are sorted out (if they're ever gonna be sorted out...).

At what point did AMD start laser cutting the shaders on the 6950 series? I wanna get a Sapphire 6950 Toxic but wanna be sure that I am not getting a laser cut card.

Toxic's are more of less made to unlock. Sapphire gives then a special BIOS just for unlocking them but they still do have a chance at being unstable. At this time there are a few cards that will still unlock with the toxic being the highest unlock rate. Dirt 3 is next best.
