Yes, I have been watching this info, but I haven't seen anyone report it to work on a Sapphire HD 6950 Toxic yet. sozo.gif
Maybe I missed it though. Let me know if you did it successfully. yessir.gif
For now, I'm not using it for anything that would stress it as a 6950, so I can wait a little while. thinking.gif

Hey Snakemed wave2.gif

I think I've read of TWO reports so far ... of people who FLASHED the HD6970 BIOS onto their TOXIC cards, might have even been 3 people ... but I have not been able to confirm that this was done W/O the SWITCH attempt actually working properly FIRST! What I mean is ... IF you can't Un-Lock it via the BIOS Switch, then supposedly your card has either been BIOS locked out / or the Extra Shader Cores have been Laser Cut on your GPU chip or whatever and thus supposedly NO Un-Lock attempt would actually be successful I thought ? So if the SWITCH didn't work then supposedly I thought NEITHER would a FLASH. Now ONE guy {DaSaint79} said HE DID just THAT though ... http://www.overclock.net/ati-drivers-overclocking-software/1134750-new-toxic-6950-weird-problem.html ... so maybe it IS possible ?
And I think the other guy or two ... were members here already so chime in if it's you smile.gif ... I believe FLASHED their TOXIC cards with the HD-6970 BIOS without ever actually trying the Dual Bios Switch first ? so no way to know if that would have worked for them in the first place ? frown.gif

What it does tell me at a minimum though is the TOXIC card CAN be Flashed safely ... at worst like mentioned with a 2nd bios on the card you always have a safety net backup. Now whether or not the FLASH option will get you the shaders or not Snake ... I just can't give a definitive YES or NO answer as of yet, but I'm working on it for you. smile.gif

Edit : WELCOME to CokeandAcid, nice Rig Pic, got you added to the Owners list thumb.gif and also WELCOME to Torite, gigabyte137, Bojamijams, ChesterCat and genji, when you guys get your Toxic's and/or can get me some info would like to add you to the Owners List as well biggrin.gif

ALSO : Add a couple new W/C options for our TOXIC's, looks like DangerDen and SwiftTech both make FULL Cover Blocks that will work on them. Snorkle.gif

Added a link to the TOXIC & TV connection discussion, not sure either guys issues have actually been figured out and resolved yet ?

I'll keep searching around the web for TOXIC info, but if any of you have something you think would be helpful or just cool to add to the Front Page, please let me know,
THANKS EVERYONE. smile.gif

EDIT #2 : Thought you fellow TOXIC owners might enjoy this little Graph of Info biggrin.gif ...

How does this card hold up to a 6970 or 570? (Without flashing it)

Well that's just it ... you don't HAVE to "FLASH" the TOXIC cards ... that's the Beauty of the Sapphire Dual Bios, Sapphire already installed the Unlocked Shaders on the 2nd Bios for you. You just turn off your computer, flip the Bios Switch, and turn back on to see if your card is UNLOCKED or NOT ... it's THAT SIMPLE ! NO LIE ! And the TOXIC comes FACTORY OverClocked at 880 core /1300 mem, so that's 99% of the way to the retail stock HD-6970's 880 core /1375 memory / 1536 shaders. 2 seconds in TriXX bumping 1300 to 1375 and you have a 100% FULLY FUNCTIONING HD-6970 at about $60 to $100 less than one ...
I'd say that holds up REALLY WELL against a HD-6970 or GTX-570.

Now if your question was actually how does it compare to a HD-6970, IF the Shaders DO NOT unlock ...
well then the TOXIC has huge headroom to OverClock and push its performance levels to match that of a stock HD-6970 by OC'ing the TOXIC only ...
but about 66%-75% maybe even more ? get to do BOTH ... unlock AND overclock ! and then this card is just a BEAST ! and is hitting stock GTX-580 levels of performance.

Haha, why are people calling me out? I didn't even post anything negative.

Anyway, not to rain on the parade, but those were only at "High" settings.

In the "Ultra" benchmarks the Green team sweeps:

According to that article, AMD cards are struggling with MSAA:

Fortunately, the GeForce GTX 400- and 500-series cards look great, run well, and take a much smaller hit when you apply MSAA than AMD’s boards."

Anyway carry on.

I guess it boils down to do you want PERFORMANCE and to rack up the kills on the Battlefield ? or do you want it to "Look Pretty" with MSAA on while you're being fragged to death ? I know which one I want

Are you sure the Toxic beats a stock GTX 580?? That can't be right can it?
Hi guys! I ordered 2 of these bad boys for my crossfire configuration. My only question is will there be some sort of gap between the cards on my board?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131729

I hope they won't be right ontop of each other like this:

*note* not my motherboard and obviously not my cards.

If the cards need to be inserted into the dark blue/grey PCI-E slots then we might have some trouble.. these are big cards. Anyone know if this is or will be a problem? Thanks

I'd rather have both

According to that review, on "Ultra" the 580 was over 25% faster than the 6970...

Update: I hope you get a kick out of the Award section of the Reviews as well. if it's not cool let me know btw and I'll remove it.

Also I've found NINE Professional review links now ... might want to add the last few to your Review Page also ?
The review section looks great, Ill add the additional reviews you found on my review page when i get the chance.
