Looking to build a dedicated F@H rig

Thread Starter
Hello guys,

I have only recently gotten back into the F@H game. Was having some issues with my system/living with gf/ then moving issues. Well I want to come back with full force.

I want to build a decent F@H dedicated rig. This would probably be GPU only. I need to know what parts to get.

If I remember ASUS had a good 4 PCIe board. And I know nVidia GPUs are better. I don't want to have to put a lot of money into this, as the power bill will be fun enough. I need suggestions on parts. Also if any of you have something extra laying around you would sell me that would be good

Power efficient would be good. I pay 13.3 cents per KWH after taxes and everything.

Sorry if there are typos. This keyboard sucks and every once and awhile decides not to input a letter....

most power efficient would be a 2600K build.

Overclocked you could pull like 50K PPD just doing bigadvs.

how much are you looking to spend? you could wait around for epic sales (for example my gpus were $80 each after rebates).

Well nVidia and power efficient are two phrases not often used in the same sentence. But they are good gpus. I would just get a dual core athlon on a cheap am3 mobo. Just focus on gnu and a sufficient PSU.

I know. I guess I mean as good as I can get? What cards have the best PPD/Power consumption?

How does the attached look for a 2 GPU setup?

I believe GTX 560Ti and GTX 460 768 MBs.

AM3 cpu on FM1 motherboard? I don't think that'll work...

A 500W PSU for two gpu's? Hmmmm, I guess that might be enough for two 550ti's

ahh be quite! i swear i filtered to AM3 boards... I thought it looked funny.

Better? Geez you guys, I'm sure with some pin rearrangement I could have made it fit... lol

I am kind of out of it right now. Consider yourselves lucky I managed to get an AMD CPU with and AMD board xD

With the 650W you should be able to run two 560ti's, On the Nvidia site it say's they use 170Watts at max, so two would be 340, leaving 300 watts for the rest of the system. Looks soild.

You can get the 560ti's for around 200 sometimes after rebates or find one here one the site, I get anywhere from 14k-17k ppd from my one 560ti (all depends on the wu's you get)

Are you set on GPU? bigadv on sandy bridge is more points per watt by far....
