The funny thing about BF3 is:

PC gamers who rarely to upgrade over the years, are finally buying new hardware to max BF3.

XBOX 360 gamers who thought they don't need an HDD, will need it to play BF3 "maxed".

On either platform, BF3 is convincing people to buy new hardware.

No one knows what the final PC version is truly going to look like yet.
Thank you for actually understanding me.

The replies I received pretty much proved my point about just how oppressive people are being without actually having any proof.

Honestly guys, you ask me if I'm being serious and if I'm being silly and here you are disagreeing with me when you can't even provide me with a simple bit of evidence.

Again, if we were to go on historical data then there is a high probability that the game will be graphically superior on PC. However until it is released all you have is empty assumptions and baseless opinions.

Back on topic - what happens to those people (my brother included) without the hard drive? Are they stuck with low-res textures?

No I didn't read your post and it wasn't aimed at you so keep ya knickers on. Also the point you make that we can't know that the PC version will look is just ridiculous not only by judging from the beta but also from what DICE themselves have already stated about the game using top end hardware to run at top settings. THE PC version WILL look better absolutely no doubt, why you even try to argue this is beyond stupid. Also there are hard facts to prove it like the BETA.......

Not exactly, if you have a USB thumb drive, you could plug it into the xbox, format it and install it to that. the thumb drive obviously needs to be 2gb or larger to hold it.

Then learn to read, and maybe you'll realize that people aren't disagreeing with you.

lol, the good thing is that you can find 120GBs rather cheap now.
A 60GB should be enough though. Avoid the 20GBs.

Unfortunately yes, he will need to buy a HDD.

To be honest I think Microsoft may be regretting this move. In a move to make the 360 financially make sense against the high RRP of the PS3, they made some very budget SKU's like the basic model which came with no HDD.

Now these very same users are pretty much limited in regards to most future games. BF3 is only the start of things to come, game textures files are only getting bigger and bigger. I think MS will be doing some bundle deals in the future with HDD's and games like BF3 in order to pull back the crowd.

In all fairness though, a 20GB Xbox HDD costs next to nothing these days. Although for people unaware of the situation it would be very frustrating to pay such a high tag for a game just to get home and find your machine cannot utilise it to its fullest extent.

Although I'm not sure you can even add a HDD to the slim SKU's. If that's the case I think MS will have a lot of unhappy campers.
