Core i5 2500K watercooled temperatures too high? - Page 4

I wouldn't use 38mm fans. Way too thick. You can definitely see an improvement from buying better fans but I wouldn't expect dramatic drops. Are you intaking cool outside air into the Rad? That's howbyou want to do it.

If you are restricted to those, here are some 115 CFM 25mm thick Delta fans.

Performance cooling your radiator takes air flow. The more ambient air you can push through it the better.
If you are looking for nice temps with low noise, the fans you linked earlier would do just fine.
Two of those fans costs more than the radiator itself lol.

Haha that's kind of what I was thinking, look like great fans though. Looks like I might be better off with an RX240, is it the same thickness as the RS?

Anyway, I'll probably just get the highest CFM/Cheapest 120 x 25's and switch the configuration. And currently I do not have ambient air being drawn through the rad, it's from the case. So I'll switch out the configuration with some new fans as soon as I can. Unfortunately I also have a possible 3,000 dollar car repair bill, which I will find out for sure tomorrow. So even 50 dollars at this point is a lot. Even considered selling the rig, hopefully I won't have to.

I'll update tomorrow on whether I can swing some new fans, and if I can as soon as I get them I'll switch the configuration to ambient air coming through the rad. Sounds like that could at least get me a few degree drop.

The fans that come with the kit are well suited to the density of that rad, no need to drop 1/3 of the price of the kit on some loud arse fans. If you really want to change fans get some high speed yate loons at $6ea. give or take.

Anyways, it looks to me like you might have a seating or TIM issue. You have an 11 degree difference between the hottest points on your hottest to coolest core. That is crying for better contact between block and slug.

Hi Friend,

Yes, stock clocks of the Intel i5-2500K as well as voltages (I have never done "manual" overclocking, only the "Dynamic Conservative Overclock" where you change the Turbo Boost). My results were based on running Prime95 with "Blend" test, all 4 cores. Sorry I forgot to mention those details.

Added info: I am cooling 1 processor and 1 GPU (Palit GTX560 Ti Sonic), using 2 XSPC dual radiators (one RS and one RX), with an RS 750 Pump/Reservoir combo.

I had a couple of Antec Tricools laying around so I thought I may as well go ahead and switch the configuration around and put these fans on the rad. This is what I got, I just have the two tricools pushing ambient air over the rad.

It looks like my idle temps didn't really change much, however my load temps dropped by 6-8C, which isn't bad. Although my 4.9GHz oc at 1.37 turned out not to be stable, for the sake of comparison that's what I set my voltage and oc at for this test as well.

I have both the tricools set on high. Would you guys call this adequate airflow for this rad, and if so do how do the temps look now compared to what one would expect for this oc with this rad.

Thanks for all your replies btw.

Also, I'm wondering if I should take the block apart and check it for this.

I've got a Rasa on each of my PCs. They've been running almost non stop for 8 months.

I use distilled water with Silver coils.

I have absolutely no build up, no crap, no gunk, nothing. Clean as a whistle.

I flushed the whole system thoroughly with distiller water before installing it, and used clean distiller water to fill it, put a kill coil in there too. But it looks like some of the blocks in that post came that way from the manufacturer, and since my temps seemed a little high, I'm trying to narrow down the possible culprit.

What are your temps and voltage? Do you have an RS 240?

BTW I see you live in Arlington, I go to UTA. How about them Rangers.
