I think my motherboard just died...

Thread Starter
I was recently told that my motherboard has the symptoms of my vrms getting weak... Just a few minutes ago, I was on ocn in chrome and had skype open in another window, and I got up for a second to go grab a snack, I came back and my screen was black, and the temperature readout on the side of my motherboard was saying 42C, which is pretty up there considering I'm using liquid cooling, after about 45 seconds, the debug code changed to FF (cpu initialization i believe) which is usually what it sticks on when it wont post, so i hit the reset button, and then it starts the normal sequence and gets stuck on 2E..

Also, i just reset it again and it booted for a moment, then immediately crashed and gave me 1 long beep and then 2 short beeps

Can someone please tell me what's going on?

Prety sure FF on my Gigabyte board means "Fully functional" not sure if MSI uses the same codes though, re 2E maybe this thread can help:

Good luck, let us know how you get on.

That thread suggested it was my video card, it looked like it had sagged out of place a little bit, but it was still making good contact, but i reseated it anyway...
Another thing i read said it was my ram, so i reseated it, still to no avail =\\

Do you have any other video cards you could try in it?

Also, try unplugging everything but your monitor and see if it boots up. Unplug all your USB devices, etc.

Check all your power connections and cables. Over time some may gradually come out of socket, or they may have been loose.

Also, if you have some spare RAM that you know works laying around, give that a try as well if the GPU test fails to post.

Update; my cpu water block dripped onto my video card =|

im going to put it in rice and hope for the best.......

in the mean time, time to drain it and reseat the hose clamps.....
what are the odds that my card is fried? thankfully it is the only thing that was affected

According to the MSI forum, POST Code Checkpoint 2E: "Initializes all the output devices."
And all the probs seem to be ram or vid card related, again, good luck.

Derp, just seen your above post, I'd leave your card in rice for 24/48 hours and hope for the best.
