You don't need that SSD and that RAM blows. Should get a NZXT 210 Elite.

I've done 30GB HDD partitions on PCs for just the OS. After Windows 7, there was room enough for at least 2 games. I mean of course, you're limiting yourself, but again, I've noted these things. With some proper file management, you could keep a Windows 7 install to a minimum. I'd imagine a TF2 + SC2 install would cut it close if both are 10GB installs. Obviously you run into the problem of filling an SSD and the future problems of that, but I gave an HDD alternative. I really just added the SSD, because I couldn't add the $30 - $35 HDD right now.
But why would you use an SSD for TF2 or SC2, multiplayer games where you will be waiting for everyone else to load the map anyway. For gaming its really only for open world games that constantly stream in textures, and most of those games are 10GB + Not to mention that you wouldn't be able to fit anything else on the computer, I doubt anyone uses their computer for only gaming, no way is there enough room for OS, games, and internet temp files.

That's a ridiculously good value! You'd think in most areas deals like those are rare. This was really just from a new parts stand point for people not wanting used. Plus I'm beyond bored atm, so I figured I could possibly help one person with this.

This is definitely a rarer find i think i could find here, 3-6 of these a year in terms of value

Not for the faint of heart.
Not for the people who need it now.

my friend was coming from an Athlon x2 5000, so his mind is blown

Phew man that rig is a bit overpriced.. the best way to build a rig is to buy component by component as they go on sale, or find cheap individual bundle deals along the way.

Heck I've got a CM Storm Scout, MSI 870-g45, Phenom II X4 955 BE, and a 650W Corsair PSU that I'm selling for ~$250. The remaining $150 of your budget could get you some cheap RAM off of eBay, then a hard drive and a graphics card. The 30 GB Vertex won't go far for gaming, Windows 7 takes up around 15 GB as is.

I don't think it's overpriced. Yes, you could wait for sales, but sales are pretty random. The problem with buying them as the go on sale is A) The wait and B) If you wait long enough, it may never come and you may find yourself obsolete.

Also, I'll note again, this is about new parts and not buying used. A lot of people prefer buying new.

Like I said in a previous post, it was more or less a substitute for a sold out HDD. Either way, I still backed up the reasoning multiple times. Internet temp files would pretty much be moot if you made your browser delete them after usage.

That's like a $60 case...

Anyway, I posted this more for info purposes. If people want to give solid reasons for a replacement part that's the same price or cheaper go ahead, but the purpose is to keep it cheap as possible with minor performance hits.

I.E. NuclearSlurpee recommended that RAM blows, but showed no support or reason and said to get a certain case, and again no support or reason and it cost more.

So that is an example of a poor post.

I feel I need to say this now, otherwise things will get out of control for no reason. It's a main reason I don't post as much as I use to. It's too much of a hostile environment around here and not enough proper debate/recommendation.

-----

Well, I feel enough info is here to provide anyone looking for a sub $400 new PC to make a well reasoned decision.

I'd drop the DVD drive altogether (install Windows from network or a USB?), drop the SSD for a mechanical drive (I remember playing games on my old rig, Pentium III 501Mhz, upgraded to 512MB of RAM, 15GB hard drive, I had to constantly uninstall/reinstall games when I wanted to play something else, it sucked).

Not bad new for <$400 though.

So, you pretty much don't want anyone's opinion that doesn't agree with yours, eh? Why even bother posting then?

We're telling you this is a terrible setup for gaming, and we're even telling you why. No one is making person attacks on you. Quit being so stuck up and about this or stop asking people for their opinions.

You complain about a hostile attitude, but you're the one creating it.
