Don't be fooled by new. Your not going to a less expensive quad core. Your going to a less expensive 4/2 core.

PS. ITS LESS EXPENSIVE TO REUSE A POWER SUPPLY, DUH to Marty!

$100 is $100.. if you can better utilize it elsewise you may as well downgrade. But, I'd say get an i3-530 and OC it. Better upgrade path too (i7 870 > 1100T = 8150).

SC2 is a very cpu demanding game...
If you want to, do it. You can probably make a decent coin. Plus, see how well your chip overclocks. Im sure someone here will snag it quick and easy if it is a golden nugget. Plus, the better the oc the more you can charge! smile.gif

Going BD is completely up to you. I say stick with the intel. And I am originally AMD. Me switching over to intel is my way of saying they didnt satisfy me. I gave them great shot but not liking what their new ceo did.

I might just wait until this supposed "patch" comes out to make my descision, but I've really been considering it.

And when your in my position, $100 extra is worth it to me to sell. Other things come before toys. tongue.gif

Where did you hear about the patch? The last time I heard about the patch, the thread got locked... also the domain had a seizure notice from ICE.

Why would you go from a quad core to a dual core? Most modern games have finally started to use quad cores. I guess if you only play games from 2010 and earlier, it'd be fine.

It'd be the same as going from a i5 2500k, to a i3, sure you could do it, and you'll still get good gaming performance in most situations, but why would you?

If you want to so desperately give some of your money to AMD, buy a faster Radeon GPU or do CrossFire or something (assuming that microstutter won't bother you).

I mean, if you so desperately want to slow your CPU down, we have these things called underclocking and undervolting. wink.gif (works great in the summer for less heat generation!)

You never realize how much you miss the performance of your current system until you use a slower one.

Before you say it's slower in everything else, I don't really do anything else other than game, listen to music, and surf on my system, so I wouldn't care. Not to mention I feel like I need a change and i've been dying to go back to amd.

What do you guys think?

do NOT just.. do NOT. wait..a sec..lemme upload ya a couple screenshots..athlon 2 x 4 is better/faster/snappier
