Is there a telescope or array of some kind with this name?

Go with something like a 6850 or a gtx 460. Either will be a huge boost over your 9600 and they only cost around 130ish after rebates, even less if you just buy one used. You wont lose much if you resell them when they come out...and they'll hold you off until the new cards come. If those are too low end for you, your only other option is GTX 560/ti or a 6870...or by some stroke of luck you could get a killer open box deal.

Why do you want to get them anyway? always stay behind a generation in cards until its needed. What games do you know that can't be run at nice settings @ high resolutions with a 480? very little amount. buy a 460 for a temp card but dont buy the 6xx series cards straight away because they will have newer and upgraded ones out after they release the reference cards. bugs and all sorts of stuff will happen straight away even though Intel is good, its just technology.

GTX 460 is a powerhouse of a GPU. And I use Tesla for work.

A quick Google search returns a resounding 'Yes'.

At first I thought you meant regarding my name... Boy was I confused...

Wonder what gave Nvidia the idea to name their new series of cards 'Kepler'.

Thread Starter
Thanks for the advice, everyone.
I'm looking at the 460, 550 Ti, or even 450.

Evo X, I'm in upstate NY. Not sure about a 260 as it's not even DX11, but if the price is right it's possible for sure.

DX11 is pretty much useless unless you have a high powered card. It is only offered for extreme settings in games like Metro 2033, Crysis 2, and Battlefield 3. You couldn't hope to run those on ultra settings smoothly with anything less than a GTX 560 Ti.

I spent over $700 in just videocards to get those games running smoothly.

That's what it all comes down to in the end.

550Ti will be a nice temp card. I have one sitting under my desk, but I have a 570 now so its useless and I'm going to build another comp for lan parties or for a mate to game with me.

Buy a used 560ti or wait and deal with the fps your getting, cant have your cake and eat it too. The 560ti will have a better resale anyways than a 460. Besides you can always sli later if kepler isnt what they promised it to be (bulldozer)

Bulldozer is a perfect example. Just get what is out now and be happy with it.

+1 --at 1920x1080 my 560ti can do crysis 2 on ultra and dx11/hi res patch. I do get into the 20's fps but its extremly playable, either way I will have my 2nd card in on monday to sli for BF3

You are at a higher resolution though so keep that in mind
