Having trouble with videocard waterblock - Page 2

it is somewhat important. You can just buy a low profile heatsink kit to cool your ram/mosfets as long as their is some air passing over it.

just make sure they are low profile like http://www.performance-pcs.com/catal...oducts_id=2026

Ok thanks. One more thing does it matter what diameter tubing you get? Does bigger, thicker tubing mean more water volume and more cooling?

no, usually most people get 1/2id tubing if they get 1/2 compressions fittings. Or if you want regular barbs I'd get 1/2 barbs with 7/16id tubing. That way its a tight fit. You may have to dip the tubes in hot water to get them on the barbs but once they are on there they are pretty solid. A lot of people run them like that without clamps(like me). However do so at your own risk.

Also I'd suggest primochill tubing in whatever color you want. Also for coolant just distilled water and a silver kill coil should be all you need.

Ok. Is the 1/2 inch tubing the biggest diameter? I know the 3"8 is sort of the middle ground. I just want to make sure I understand the sizing so I can figure out what barb fittings to get. I would like to tubing with a smaller barb and do like you said, heat it up to expand the rubber, put it on and let it cool so it "shrinks" on the barb for extra tightness. Then I would clamp it too to be extra sure. So is it:

1/2 biggest
3/8 middle ground
5/16 smallest

Its very important that you cool the vregs and ram. A lot of the time when you remove the stock cooler these parts are no longer cooled. Vregs get very hot when you oc.

Plus the newegg link you gave is the page for all the 6970s.
