I would also go with a 120gb SSD like the crucial m4 and a low end discrete GPU, so the system will last longer.

Llano sounds like a pretty good bet, maybe the A4-3400.

If they're gonna "save" everything onto the C drive, then get a 32GB (or smaller) SSD just for Windows; it'd still make everything feel snappier, then partition whatever is unused as unallocated space. It'd be a waste of space (I guess), but its worth it for the load times. I'd go Llano, but I feel like a low end SB would do the job fine, maybe with a GT 520 or something if they need anything more than integrated.
