For 1080P? Just go with 1 580.

Still? It never did in the first place, to be honest. It wins at higher res but at 1080p they're pretty close to even and I would give the edge to the 590. I've owned both of them and currently use a 590.

I think both sides have a few games that give them grief. I personally have not tried it but if you head into the Nvidia section and ask in the 590 owners thread there is a bunch of guys running quad-sli. I've only done up to tri-SLI and not had any problems with it at all.

Ok I know this is OCN and all but WWWWWHY!!!!! WHY so much gpu power and only a 1080 monitor? I think for the gpu power your talking about you would have 3 of them! lol Heck you can even just sli msi 570's if you wanna save a little but if money isnt an object I think SLi 580s seems like a sweet spot from the benchmarks I have seen over time.

Keep in mind my single msi560ti at 1080 plays crysis2 on ultra and dx11 but just ordered my second one for ultra settings on BF3. Beta bf3 couldnt do ultra, I played it a little that way but on any action frames must have been going below 15fps, got lag. Since I already have the 560ti i just got another or I would have picked up a msi 580 lighting.

Edit- msi has 2GB 560ti's now too at 880mhz if you wanna save a ton of money and still run 2 cards.

Recommendations: To achieve a sustained 1080p60 at ultra settings, DICE itself recommends two top-of-the-line NVIDIA GTX580s running in SLI. However, in our testing with the beta we found that a single GTX580 in combination with a 3.33GHz Core i7 gave us around 55-60FPS in most cases. Best picks for a medium-priced graphics card would be the GTX560ti or the cheaper but slightly slower Radeon HD 6870.

Flip a coin, they are all great choices. No matter which one you end up with your going to love the performance your going to get.

Only thing that might sway you would be if you wanted 3D vision gaming or 3D blu-ray movie watching monitor, then go Nvidia.

Otherwise the three choices you have will do just awesomely for what your going to run with it. Nice to have this kind of dilemma.

If you are on a budget (lol) get 1 GTX 580 3Gb for now, it will be sufficient for any game right now. Then get another 580 3Gb and you are set for years till DX12 comes along. 2 590s/2 6990s are just noisy noisy noisy.

2x590 are fine. never had any problems, drivers are fine, perfomance boost from x1.5 to x2 in different games and benches. and it overclocks pretty good (and even better on water)
